Inactivethings just keep getting worse and worse for UB (you always knew they were trouble when they didnt pay affiliates for blackjack play – and they still dont pay for tourny fees)
http://siteanalytics.compete.com/www.ultimatebet.com/
i wonder if any of the bosses ever wonder why they have less then 1/2 of the U.S traffic then AUG last year (also thats pre UIGEA – They should be double what they were last year since UIGEA as they are one of the few networks to accept all US players )

InactiveWow.
Its worse than I thought when i first posted this thread.
Not only do they want us to help with their SEO for free, Now we loose 50% of our customers because the tracking is disabled by all these cookie catchers.
I doubt we will be promoting UB in the future.
Pity…

InactiveThe fact that the tracking link is going through an image and not the actual link speaks volumes.
It is a way of getting everyone to do their SEO for them because Google will only see the anchor text of the link and where the link is going to.
So in the end this site will get the top positions in Google pushing affiliates out of the picture.
I wouldn’t promote them if I can’t do it through a straightforward link that I can track through a script.

InactiveI’m guessing that a “no follow” tag would contribute to the site’s pr value by plugging the pr leaks, but how would such a tag affect internally-bound menu links on a page?
September 15, 2007 at 2:35 am #748818Anonymous
Inactive1. so called “naked link” tracking is not reliable at all
2. no follow tag still give them advantage
3. no email link or no simple text link

triplecrownMemberI started a thread about the same thing:
http://www.gpwa.net/forum/always-use-rel-nofollow-affiliate-links-172174.html
I found that all of my targeted keyword phrases SERPs were dominated by affiliate programs. They dominate the highest competitive keywords NOT because they write fresh new content daily (I don’t know any that do), but because they have countless incoming link via banners and text links in their affiliate codes. Google counts them (yes even banners) as an incoming link, which then propels them to the top.. even above you!
So with that in mind get a grip on your link flow! Use an internal redirect with a rel=”nofollow” in the url.
You will not be penalized for doing so. (So says matt Cutts http://www.stonetemple.com/blog/?p=187 )
I’d also like t mention to NOT display your casino banners that predominately display their website name. this will lead to direct type-ins. I don’t know what the percentage it, but any is not good.

InactiveI just learned that there are 2 types of no follow tags.
Page Level
This works at page level. The page is indexed, but no links are explored.Link Level
This works at link level, allowing you to choose which links shouldn’t be followed.By the way, wikipedia.org is adding rel=”nofollow” to all its outgoing links.

point them to this thread.

Not sure how much value they give but they do show in link:site.com searches.

I have also seen some online casinos hooking up with black hatters on some forums trying to get spam listings. I won’t mention any names here but the ones I have seen doing this are not CAP certified.

InactiveI do not believe what UB are doing is any different than what other programs do. At the end of the day you make money with them and if you end up helping them along the way then the better.
Do not burn your bridges… since many programs go out of their way to assist you guys.
But Merlin if you feel what they are doing is wrong and will seriously affect your revenue then please drop one of the few remaining programs out there accepting US traffic and more to us.

InactiveSimon
What they are doing is wrong.
Did you not read anything I posted or the others in this thread.
We loose 50% of the players we send because of the way third party cookies work and the fact that the cookies get rejected.
I will, and I’m sure most affiliates will drop any program that changes to using third party cookies in this way.
Again. read the other posts and related articles before you make a judgement on me !
THE END !

I thought CAP was a place for affiliates to pull together.
There is a clear intention here (and elsewhere) to milk affiliates for links.
This is not about burning bridges. It is about one affiliate asking for other to look into something, comment, and make their judgement.
I agree with Merlin. You don’t have to. If you are happy bumping casino operators above you in rankings, be my guest. But if you can’t add constructive comment, keep your patronizing comments to yourself.
Merlin has come on here and made valid points. Trolling the thread and dishing out rude remarks is no way to engage in constructive debate. There is a way to voice your opinion if you disagree. IMHO that was not the way.

InactiveI have used rel=”nofollow” on 80% of my affiliate links for more than a year now. I think all affiliates should do this.
The casinos and poker rooms are translating their sites to european languages and if we give them “free links” they will dominate page 1 and 2 in google very soon!
