I didnt check any of them out, but Id surmise that they are copying content because they are lazy and its the easiest way to create 1000+ sites very quickly. For the life of me I can not figure out why they would want to diplicate some of the content listed above – its of no use to them other than for the reason I described above.

No, it isn’t. The purpose is to generate a huge quantity of content very quickly by scraping either Google or Yahoo results. There’s no intent to lower your rankings. In fact, the use of no index,no follow means that the extra link popularity these sites might generate for your site is negated.
All they then do is add a couple of affiliate links to the top of the scraped results and trust that a large majority of the traffic to these pages goes to the sites that will make them money.

well I know for a fact that the programs advertised, tropez and that bunch; were approached about this affiliate’s methods because of concern of getting banned for being duplicate sites; and the affiliate who brought this to their attention was told (basically – and please correct me if I state this wrong dear affiliate) but was told basically that nothing was going to be done about it.
You know I don’t say much about a lot of the sneaky, underhanded stuff that goes on (at least as much as I’d like) and that would include if this was just about stealing traffic off the SEs which is trying to find your/my site, but when you’re talking mass penalization because of duplication, that’s BS and needs to be forced to an action IMHO.
while I do believe that google and other SEs will eventually start taking note of what content appeared where first: I think it will not happen until this has become a problem amongst more traditional niches that harbor less controversy.
By then a good many of you may be gone. (I say you because I don’t get much free traffic anyway).
Its just total and complete underhandedness IMHO and that outrages me. Whether the intent is to get your sites banned for duplicated content; or some other more noble reason, the fact still remains that even a dummy like me knows that duplicated sites get banned; so its not like they did this without some kind of idea of what the repercussions might be.

For your information I wrote all the text at the bottom of my index page. It is not hidden text and is on tarket with gambling keywords. Anyways, I am sure all the good people here at CAP have been enlighten by your first time post. As my friends know here at CAP I could say alot more to you. So my best advice is for you to crawl back into the hole from which you came.Not trying to stir the :bullshit: but the moment you edit your text to get better keyword density then you are SPAMMING the search engines. You are deliberately trying to manipulate the search engine – which is spam. Anyone with half a brain can tell that the text at the bottom of the captains’ page is written to get better search positions – thus SPAMMING the search engine. Captain, I’m not trying to say your a spammer or insult you, but you are spamming. You and many others like you have convinced themselves that there are good and bad ways of spamming. So until you change that text that an english teacher would accept AND make it a darker colour then you will be a spammer.
Now mztrjim, these duplicate sites are not spam but sites designed to steal traffic and/or get other sites banned. IMHO trying to get other sites banned is unethical. I don’t see a much of a problem with people trying to steal traffic. Before anyone jumps down my throat again I want it on the record that I do not try to steal other sites traffic. But as many people say “take what you can get”.
