Man that Goodlatte is something else.
July 11, 2006 at 6:51 pm #698234AnonymousInactiveIf there’s this close of a margin on the proposed amendments for this bill – in the House – I just can’t see how this bill could possibly make it past the Senate, where a 2/3 majority is required for it to pass.
July 11, 2006 at 7:01 pm #698235AnonymousInactiveI’ve seen this 2/3rds majority requirement in the Senate mentioned in a couple of posts now. Is that for real? I thought normal votes in the Senate are decided by a simple majority, and 2/3rds majority votes are only for constitutional amendments or presidential veto overrides. Can someone who knows explain this?
July 11, 2006 at 7:04 pm #698237AnonymousInactiveSeems they (the house) will have a final vote on this bill today.
July 11, 2006 at 7:08 pm #698238AnonymousInactiveCurrently voting on a motion to “Recommit with Instructions” (whatever that means). The Nay’s have it 163 vs. 243. Waiting to see if there is further debate and further voting. So far, things are looking good.
July 11, 2006 at 7:11 pm #698240AnonymousInactiveThey are now voting on the actual bill; it looks to pass easily. :Pisser:
July 11, 2006 at 7:12 pm #698241AnonymousInactiveUh oh, the final vote on Passage is going on now and it doesn’t look good.
July 11, 2006 at 7:12 pm #698242AnonymousInactiveRecommit would have been good, the fact they didn’t is bad. They are voting now and from the looks this bill will pass easily.
July 11, 2006 at 7:17 pm #698245AnonymousInactiveBad news, the bill soared through 313 to 92. This makes it look like it will fly through the Senate, which only needs a simple majority BTW. Looks like online gambling will be illegal soon.
July 11, 2006 at 7:18 pm #698246AnonymousInactiveI don’t know what all the excitement is.
This is nothing new.
It’s passing the house like before.
There isn’t even any point in using lobbies until it is in the senate.
That’s where it is designed to die.
July 11, 2006 at 7:18 pm #698247AnonymousInactiveThree minutes ago it looked as though it would fail easily, the record vote is not going as well..
July 11, 2006 at 7:19 pm #698248AnonymousInactive317/93 final tally, passed.
July 11, 2006 at 7:20 pm #698249AnonymousInactivewell, its passed… now on to ratification and the senate.. how did that vote swing so far so fast
July 11, 2006 at 7:22 pm #698251AnonymousInactiveGood.
Everything is on target and the senate will drop it as usual.
July 11, 2006 at 7:26 pm #698255AnonymousInactiveIts all rubbish anyway. All 4411 does is re-inforce the bank Wire ACt bu restricting banking methods.
A) It doesn’t appear to affect e-wallets
How the hell are banks going to check every transaction
C) Gaming companies will just use 3rd party providers to disguise the fact
D) It still has to go through Senate and the guy at the topand
E) We’re not even onto 4777 yet.
Long long way to go before this has any, if any, effect IMO.
