DEALERWEB24MemberSo Doyle’s room will be barring US players for approximately 2 months according to G911. Can someone confirm this?
There is already an interruption in service for US customers at this time following Doyles Room’s poker network and software provider’s decision to block all US customer IPs.
It remains unclear when Doyles Room will have its own network up and running, though the company and those close to Doyles Room claim it should be approximately eight weeks or some time in mid April.

Memo to the guys at Gamblin911. You have a successful website, people use it for gambling infomation.
But they got 3 backlinks in this thread alone…I think they know what they are doing.

Just as the BS pokerbandit hoax it doesnt take much but common sense to at least contest the notion. Course you just never know these days.
Now they are saying its actually true again. :lookaroun
Last I checked Doyle, his son, and the rest of those pros/celebs are from the USA. I guess if USA players arent welcomed any more the room will just have to close down; or lose its branded edge.

vladcizsolMemberDoyle has left the building… Again…. Poor old guy must feel like he’s stuck in a revolving door!
Here is the latest (02/19/07 20:00, subject to change)
Quote:Doyles Room Clears Up Confusion
By mid-afternoon, Doyles Room returned to Gambling911.com informing us that the “erroneous” press release was in fact….well….fact. They will no longer be taking on US customers as previously announced this morning.A press release arrived at the desk of Gambling911.com just prior to noon from two different parties. Representatives from Doyles Room, however, quickly advised that a decision to leave the US market had not yet been finalized.
By mid afternoon, the initial press release was declared “official” by Doyles Room representatives. The company will no longer be accepting US customers from hereon in.
“This has been a tough decision for the folks at Doyles Room, but ultimately they decided it would be necessary to leave the US market after all,” said Gambling911.com’s Payton O’Brien. “We here at Gambling911.com are just the messengers and it is important to us that we get this information out to players immediately as it comes in. A lot of what you read here is raw information not yet obtained by the news wires, thus creating some degree of confusion.”

InactivePity the DOJ doesn’t grab Doyle as an “example”. That would fire up even the most apathetic player.

I talked to him at the 2006 WSOP on the issue and he wouldn’t comment publicly. I told him that the (then) pending bill would be affecting his room and he said “Son, that’s what I am worried about.”If there is a way around it Doyle’s Room will find it…I do not know the latest but they were looking at alternative software because the reason for pull out was tribeca software decision, not Doyle’s Room itself.
The inside scoop is they are negotiating with Microgaming. I got that before gambling911.
Of course micro doesn’t allow the 11 states but is an obvious choice.Doyle and son are tough bastards and they wll not be taking this lying down! I got a good snap of my dad with Doyle.

InactiveDoyle’s Room pops up a message that redirects to here and states the following:
xhttp://www.nouspokerroom.com/Quote:NOTICEYou are receiving this message because, based on your IP address, it appears highly probable that you are located in the United States.
On October 13, 2006, the Unlawful Internet Gambling Act of 2006 was signed into law. Under the Act, much Internet gambling in the United States is now potentially illegal, depending on the laws of the state where the player is located. However, as a poker room serving various operators, we do not know the players, where they are located, or even if they are playing for money or just for fun. So, we have required poker sites using our room to reject money players from states where it is illegal.
Unfortunately, some sites have not been successful in their implementation of this requirement, and given the fact that we cannot differentiate legal from illegal play, we are left with no alternative but to block all players who appear to be located in the United States. We are putting all players on notice that access to real money tables and tournaments in the poker room from the United States will be blocked as soon as the blocking technology is tested and implemented; this is currently scheduled for February 28th at 23:59 GMT.
After February 28th, although you will not be permitted to play poker, you will still be able to access the cashier function of your poker operator through the cashier tab for a limited time. We suggest that you contact your poker site’s customer service with any questions you may have.
We apologize to players who are just playing for fun, to players located in states where Internet poker may be legal, and finally to players outside the United States whose Internet traffic is being routed so as to appear to be originating in the United States.

Guestsoftware provider’s decision to block all US customer IPs
curious just how players are suppose to get their money out if they can’t reach the site?
also likely if they have the same pitiful solutions as many if not most other places …. meaning c2pay only … then even if they send the players their money .. how many are going to have $1500 in there to cash out?
of course, I guess they can deposit elsewhere with that money if they can get it that close to their reach …

InactiveProfessor wrote:Nope this has nothing to do with the rumor he had been arrested. It was a decision made by his software supplier.I dont believe the land based casinos will be online in 18 months either.
1. They want players at their casinos where they can maximize profits.
2. While online gaming may be permitted in some states its not permitted in most. Do you really think people in Nevada are going to prefer gambling online over going to one of the mega resorts? If a few do it certainly wont be profitable enough to warrant developing for that limited market.
3. Online gaming would create significantly less tax revenue for states then does land based casinos. You have to consider all the support jobs that go along with land based casinos IE hotel staff, taxis, limos, restaurants, bars, entertainers, dealers, airport staff, airlines etc… Land based casinos create an army of jobs and add billions of dollars to local and state coffers where its permitted. That will be protected vehemently by the Senators and Representatives whose constituents live in those districts. Remember guys this all about money and land based casinos produce far more revenue and taxes then online casinos ever could.
They’ve already got the tax revenue from money spend via online gambling. Players that were spending money online are more likely already dumping that disposable income into local economies.
Online gambling’s reputation aside, people want value for their money,
players just don’t get any with state lottery run casinos or online casinos, hence all the chargebacks.I have no problem with the USA taking over this industry, with or without affiliate programs.

InactiveThe end is near, my friends. Doyles was one of the good Poker sites and affiliate programs left to us. We will miss them, but I viewed them as the last standing soldier. Their leaving, is the 2:00 minute warning for all of us (a US football analogy, for you non-US folks)…..
Although it’s a given that this industry is on its last legs, courtesy DOJ, Bush, and his cronies, I will make a prediction that the land-based casino industry will actually suffer a backlash from all of this, with diminished interest on the part of gamblers as well. And to me, that is the only true satisfactory ending to all of this….that the U.S. cut it’s nose off to spite its face, and that they too, suffer the consequences of this irrational behavior.
Time to get a new career all…….

InactiveI understand your feelings BUT, don’t give up the fight eh? It ain’t over til the fat lady…
BBW the old man is 78, lifelong chainsmoker and fit as a fiddle. Some people get away with it.

InactiveSorry, but the fight ended on 10/13/06, or actually way before that, when Senate passed the bill. Anything and everything going on now, is too little, too late. I appreciate the efforts of those “fighting”, but if you look at the truly big picture, it’s really all a waste of time at this point…..

as stated … speaks well for your future. there’s no denying good genes make a difference.
… I assume the smilie was due to your sadness he smokes. I confess I have the same addiction and hope my son is so lucky to be able to say the same when I’m 78

….. folks…. its not over till the fat lady has sung the last note ……
J Todd has an excellent proposal .. .
yes we may have to change to target out of the states …
but there is some hope. OG has been legalized in some countries … and continues to grow in popularity across the globe.
There may come a day where even if the US is allowed to re-enter the market at full pace ….. that it won’t make an 80% difference.
sorry … just had my 3rd drink of the night and am feeling optimistic.
…. just don’t ask me to bet that way

LeroyGMemberThere are two types of affiliates this day in age in the US.
1) The quitters
2) The ones with brains who see that the market is STILL growing, and there will always be ways to make tons of money in this business. America will not stop gambling online. When we have a major uproar in the business (much more frequent lately) we find out who is a #1 and who is a #2. The affiliates are just getting fewer and stronger.
