Inspiration maybe can you send a pm to the professor asking that. Now I just had the chance to read the entire thread and first let me say that it is great that Dom started this thread so we can all give feedback on our feelings about banning and I see good things that came from it such as the avatar changing etc. The Cardspike thing I think Professor asked for direct questions and he will answer if he has not already. Now to address the first post by Deara I did not find it offensive or any way an attack on anyone but a statement that affiliates want to be able to express concerns and not have their thoughts suppressed.(note: this is a perfect example on how posters words can be taken by one person as an attack and by another as a statement, on forums it is hard to determine which is which and that should always come to mind before any judgements are made) I agree as long as these opinions are not directly made to humilate another member/owner etc and the opinion are productive and not repetitive.

What about having a dispute room that is private or something so any dispute is not taking away from business?

    Hi Bonustreak,

Thank you for this. You’re right, my first post wasn’t intended to be confrontational or non-supportive, or anything like that. I thought by the title of this thread that it was an ‘OPEN’ discussion about CAP bannings, and felt what I said was related. The things said in my first post are how I feel about bannings. Not just here at CAP but anywhere.

I appreciate your post very much Bonustreak. But it was Professor that got so bent out of shape when I joined in this so called open discussion. He made it clear how he feels about me by saying that I’m non-supportive continually, and by finishing off with the instructions not to speak to him directly anymore, and that he wouldn’t speak to me directly. If that’s not a slap in the face I don’t know what is.

Up until recently, I always loved CAP. I visited many times every day. I felt like I supported CAP by contributing to the discussions by posting, and by having the CAP Certified Portal seal on my forum. But after my posts in this thread, and the response I got from Pofessor, I think this will be my last post here. Afterall, it is his ship, not ours. And I no longer feel welcome here.

I don’t mean any of this towards you Bonustreak. You and are good. I have the utmost respect for Dom also. :)

P.S. Since I’m not supposed to speak to Professor directly anymore, would you mind pm’ing him for me and asking him to delete my account also? Thanks..

Guys I have been out of touch all day and just saw your requests. You have not done anything which I would ban you for, but I respect and will honor your wishs and place your accounts on vacation. I do value you as members and if you have a change of heart just contact me via one of the mods or directly and I will restore you to full rights and seniority as before. We will keep the lights on for you.

Just saw Mojo Avatar request and removed her Avatar. Guys due to medical issues in the family I will be on mostly late night EST time. Sorry for the delays, but I will do my best to be responsive during this period. Your positive constructive comments are always appreciated and as I stated before any ones we put in play will earn the post a CAP Money bonus.

I’d like to suggest that CAP adopt a new philosophy that it is not appropriate to make avatar changes like that as part of the banning process when bannings do occur.

WOW! Does that mean I win a CAP Money Bonus! I was trying to make what I thought was a good suggestion, but I never expected that if it was adopted I’d get some sort of prize.

On a side note thats totally off topic does anyone know of a vBulletin add on spell checker? As I get older I seem to have a hell of a time spelling even though this was a strong suit for me when I was young.

First actionable answer gets a CAP Money award too. :)

Will something like this work for you Professor?

What this does: vB Spell allows you to install a dictionary (English dictionary included) into your MysQL database, and provide a spell checking window that works in both of vB’s editor modes, standard and WYSIWYG.

    ====
    Features:

Supports most recent versions of browsers. Firefox, Mozilla/Netsacpe, Opera and Konqueror (Konqueror implies Safari, but please confirm Mac folks).

    – Spell Check button appears anywhere there is a WYSIWYG Enhanced or Standard Editor
    – Link buttons (Thesarus and Lookup) with links to Merriam Webster’s online thesarus and dictionary links with the suggestion for misspelled words.

I appreciate that this may be even more off topic, but having spent the last half an hour reading this thread, I would like to lighten the tone for a short while, and perhaps help the Prof on the benefits of using a spell checker:

    The Spell Checker
A poem for those of you who rely on their Spell Checker:-

    Eye halve a spelling chequer,
It came with my pea sea,
It plainly marques four my revue
Miss steaks eye kin knot sea.

Eye strike a key and type a word
And weight four it two say
Weather eye am wrong oar write
It shows me strait a weigh.

As soon as a mist ache is maid
It nose bee fore two long
And eye can put the error rite
    Its rarely ever wrong.

Eye have run this poem threw it
I’m shore your pleased two no
Its letter perfect in it’s weigh,
    My chequer tolled me sew.

Maybe you want your design team to check as well, if there is a plugin that suppresses certain (cuss) words. Should be easy: Before a post is actually published, the tools compares the text with a list of forbidden words and if one of these words is in the post, it is not published but the writer is kindly asked to re-read and modify his/her post.

Thanks Tops. That is a function of vBulletin and we do use it here on some racially insensitive and generally offensive words.
