ClubContMemberCAP Oz would be good and I would definitely consider it. I think we need a thread to list all the things people can do and would like to do down there. I would assume this would occur sometime in the winter when it’s hot there?
Surfing is high on my list

vladcizsolMemberCAP Down Under plus a PokerConference.com event is definitely coming in the near future. We are looking at logistics, guaging sponsor support and evaluating locations. :hattip:

bsmartMemberI’m off to CAP Spain this year, all the way from little ol’ NZ…..it’s going to cost a fortune, but hey, it’s not like it’s my money I’m spending

CAP Australia would be awesome though, the only problem would be having to put up with all those Aussies

(I used to live in Australia – so I’m just kidding guys!)
I’d suggest Brisbane too, cheaper to put on than in Sydney, WAY more to see and do from up that way too.
Australia Zoo (crikey!), Surfers Paradise, Byron Bay, Mermaid Beach Bowls Club (hehe)….
Casinos = Jupiters (awesome new upgrade there), Treasury and the Cairns Casino too….
Oh and the Great Barrier Reef is only a 2 hour plane ride from Briz-vegas too!
You MUST go see this wonder of the world before our fellow man destroys it all with pollution and global warming.“Fair suck of the sav’ mate, it’d be grouse!”

InactiveWe have been chatting about this in the office and I thought I would put some input…
While it may be cheaper to host the conference in Brisbane, IMHO there is a lot more to do in Sydney… especially touristy stuff….
The Australia Zoo is approximately 45-60 minute drive from Brisbane…
Taronga Zoo is about 15-20 minutes on a ferry from darling harbour and includes a beautiful view over sydney.(http://www.simonho.org/images/Australia/Sydney_Harbour.jpg).Most sights to see are within 20 minutes of the city if you even have to leave the city…
Also, Brisbane would be a secondary flight for most people flying over as most international flights come into Sydney and Melbourne, not to mention that the tourist attractions are so far apart that you’d need to hop on another plane to see them from Brisbane…
The nightlife in Sydney is endless… and you’re always bound to see a famous Aussie! Mostly footballers, but theres nothing wrong with that if you’re a lady

We have Kings Cross and Newtown – the largest population of Queens in the world after Miami
Plus we have the Harbour Bridge and Opera House – you can’t go past a bridge climb!
http://www.sydney.com/ – this website has a lot of info…
Anyway just my 2 cents…

InactiveHehe
I suspect a little rivalry coming on between the states of QLD and NSW

Just kidding…
I’m sure there’s lots to do in Brissy… just thought i’d add my 2 cents..
Besides, if it’s in Sydney, there would be no excuse for me not being there…

Gyrnikol007Memberhehe sibling rivalry is funny

Renee if it’s in Brisbane and you aren’t coming, I’m sure someone will just fly down there and pick you up …..
alternatively, we could do a CAP Aussie Crawl .. and hit both Brisbane and Sydney .. just like state of origin without the football but just as much beer!

InactiveI am in for Sydney. It is “the” place in Australia.
It is true what Renee says re: international flights coming to Sydney or Melbourne, so it is really between these two cities.
When you compare the two, it would have to be Sydney.

InactiveTrish: Agreed! Anywhere there is beer, you will find me

CasinosMaster: I agree, however IMO (again I hope im not offending anyone) – I think the people in Melbourne are much nicer than those in Sydney, unless of course you’re a tourist, then they just love the accent…

vladcizsolMemberI think minimizing connections is a huge benefit for us yanks and the rest of the world flying in.
I hope to spend an extra week on walk about to see the land as its a hell of a long flight and we might as well get the most of it. So I have Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne all on my list.

InactiveRenee: True. Sydneysiders can be quite rude and abrasive.
I would not care if it was Melbourne and I would definitely attend. Obviously would prefer Sydney.

StarBucksSportsMemberI haven’t been to Sydney yet, but Melbourne would be a great venue too.
It’s got a world class public transport infrastructure, the nightlife is great and it’s probably one of the most vibrant cities I’ve ever been to. Personally, it would take a hell of a lot to get me to move to another city from here :inlove:

Edit: It’s also the home of the worlds funniest game… Aussie rules football.
