Haha… HK has always been my favorite – but Macau has changed dramatically in the last three years.
Speaking of mai mee welaa… you coming this way any time soon?

Brandon – of all the markets you actually have a chance to penetrate, this is the one you’re going to miss? Your logo alone would attract a lot of attention…
Nicole, look forward to meeting you in Macau. Same for all of the affs who are coming!

Unfortunately this conference would be perfect for us if the traffic is there, it just doesn’t seem like a educated expense. There were <50 affiliates in Montreal, and I know of ~15 affiliates going to Macau.
Without affiliates going free, its just to hard to get them to CAC events. Most attending are purely going because they want to take a vacation in Macau.

I just checked and the shortest flight from Vancouver is 17 hours. I think I’ll pass on this. Anything above 12 for me it stretching is for a conference. That is unless its a venue I really want to see. I also cant see myself targeting the Asian market all that much due to the culture/language barrier.
On the other hand, has Marc learned his lesson, will this be free for affiliates?
That’s no excuse!

I must admit the Venetian sealed it for me and I want to go to HK for a day, but it’s the lineup of speakers that really interests me…this is the ideal time to evaluate whether the Asian market is one I can penetrate.
That said, I will be hoping to pick up a complimentary pass from somewhere lol. But in actual fact it’s no more expensive than going anywhere else. The hotel for a week is only £300 ($600) and the flight £450 ($900) – thats almost the same price overall as Barcalona cost me for 3 days.
If you employ a consultant to investigate the market potential and draw up conclusions you’ll spend way more than that and IMO I prefer to see/hear it first hand.

vladcizsolMemberIf anyone would be willing to sponsor Me and Mrs Professor to Macau we would love to go. We need two round trip business class tickets from Orlando and hotel. We can cover food.
We priced things out and its just way too much for us in todays market conditions to swing the trip, but we would love to see Hong Kong and Macau.

The first CAC in Vancouver had about 15 affiliates and 30 operators. I would say that 75% of that crowd is still in the business.
You’re not going there just to meet affiliates you KNOW… the point is to meet affiliates you DON’T know as well.
Macau is NOT a vacation destination by any stretch of the imagination.

You actually get to hear new people presenting their views on the Asian market.Simmo! wrote:If you employ a consultant to investigate the market potential and draw up conclusions you’ll spend way more than that and IMO I prefer to see/hear it first hand. What Simmo! meant was that he’s too cheap to buy me a beer… sheesh

InactiveWhat Simmo meant was that Spearmaster already owes me beers (plural) and Claire has already taken up my “buy other people beer” allowance for this trip. I’ll be staying in
And Bryan’s not going now – you scared him! -
