LOL I always post when I land a whale, because I get so excited.

Right now I have three or four whales playing at Golden Palace and who have been playing there for months.

I have one whale at Zodiac Casino who hit a big jackpot last month and looks like he hasn’t been back to play in a while.

And I recommend a book called Whale Hunt in the Desert which makes the kinds of whales I’ve signed up look like minnows. I guess the Hilton Las Vegas has some high roller suites that are 15,000 square feet. That’s about 5 of my houses rolled into one suite.

Good idea BB1 – but where do you draw the line under a definition of a whale? What level of wagering?

    Cheers

I find that whales can land most any place – whether they stay on after a month is a whole other story.

Hi, and thank you all for your support.

Good question on what a whale is:

Lets just throw out a number and go from there, since most times we’ll have to be interpreting our stats to some degree anyway, I’d say a very loose definition would be around 1k our way in commission per month.

does that sound fair? shoot I’m thrilled when I land a player that loses that much to me in commissions per month.

nice bit of info indeed …

I would suggest that we also keep track of BIG winners as well. Really sucks to see a 30-40K winner vanish into thin air something I have NEVER understood!

Its my belief that a big winner like that surely must lose a nice chunk of change prior to hitting the jackpot … I can not imagine them coming in depositing $50 hitting a jackpot and then leaving! Unfortunately that appears to be the case so often …

$1k Sounds good to me BB1 – but i’m new to this. I have 2 players at $1k+ commission since i started in July so I had this uneasy feeling someone was gonna say $10k+ :D

I would not call someone giving us $1k a month in commissions is an acceptable measure of a whatle.

If I get a player who makes me $1200 in commissions where I am pay’d out at the 25% comission rate, than by your measure Randy would of landed a bigger whale if he earned $1300 off a player while being pay’d a 40% commission

Also, I think a whale should be considered someone who has lost more than $10k or $20k a month. Winners can’t be considered whales unless we’ve been tracking them for the last month or more.

Anyway, besides those two comments I think it’s a good plan.

I agree, $1000 a month is a good base income from a whale.

While that allows for some differences in his spending habits, I think we need to keep it simple.

Agreed, winners who walk are not whales.

I also am baffled by winners who win big and walk.

I also think that these should be given expedited pay – the faster they get the money the less likely they are to have made dreams and spending plans. I think casinos think that if they delay payment the player will play it back – yes, small winners. Big winners – I don’t see it.

    Payment should be asap.

I never implied that big winners are whales – I indicated that it would be nice to track their migrating habits as well.

I might consider producing 1000k a month profits for the affiliate a baby shamoo. The true whales are dropping that per day and more.

I just tried the new Casino Webcam flash version (what an improvement!!!!) and watched one playing $1000 per hand of blackjack. Losing badly – as was I (but I wasn’t playing such amounts. :) )

He was still playing when I left…

I had whales at webcam myself – and the stay was several months – actually there still is play going on, but not as solidly as before. I think he is playing at several casinos.

    Hi again,

well I agree there are many sizes to whales, and I’ve had some that dropped more than $50k in a month.

but those are really rare, and personally I’d rather see a larger number of input than at the end of the month come in and find 4 people posted they’d had a whale.

exaggerated I admit, but you get the idea.

    @ $1k a month (our way) that’s $4k a month dropped. nearly $50k a year.

that’s a good sized gambler to me.

but we could go to $2k (our commission)

    that’d be nearly a $100k a year dropped.

either or; I’m just happy to have some interested partakers cause I would really be interested in seeing results in 6 months of

    1. places that never earned mention
    2. places that suck in keeping retention.

so throw out a number and lets go from there.

I’m wondering what would be the most efficient way to go about this.

if we just were to come in and post, hey I’ve got a whale, and then come back and post in a month or two if they’re till playing,

well it seems it’d be easier if there were some way to maybe make a table which showed the casino, the name of submitter (cause no offense to anybody, but there’s just some folks who’s words carry more weight with me than others, and that’s always going to be a personal thing for all of us, which thankfully we can keep to ourselves, not too mention there might be the occasional second agenda, which would become apparent over a period of time, say if the same person were to post about getting whales from same casino/group of casinos which might be legit; but also might mean they were paid-off in some way by the casino for obvious reasons).

and perhaps a starting date (roughly) and ending date (roughly) of the spotting.

and eventually we when enough was gathered, we could categorize by casino / program,

well you guys are the experts at that kinda shit. I can make a table. which in my mind would suffice quite efficiently, but the techies would likely say to do it in a database thing.

which that’s as far as I go in that respect.

    :)

This sounds like a great idea, altho I don’t know how to track one specific player??? Other than Capt. Cook’s most don’t offer that info on the stats pages do they?

Anyway, wouldn’t it be useful to track “where” that customer came from? I.E. an ad campaign, PPC, e-mail, pop-up or whatever source we may be using. Seems if we find a larger number of whales are coming from say e-mails, than PPC, it would give us an idea where to focus ad dollars. It may be evenly distributed, but do we know?

    Lol, BB1!

Yes, they have chat there. I think the pitboss watches it like a hawk though.
