looping

Dominique asked 3 years ago
So how big an issue is “looping”?

I keep running into issues between avoiding looping of on site links and user convenience.

Are you talking about dynamic URLs like session IDs, etc that are causing numerous URL variations for the same page? – If so, that is very bad

No, this is about menus – there is a basic menu each page has, and a specific topic menu. This is a huuuuge site. So I wonder if bots end up looping around because of the repetitious in site linking…

they should not loop or get caught in what we call a “spider trap” – they are able to tell which pages you have and even though you link to them from numerous places on the site thru your menus – you will be fine

Is that what you are referring to?
