It will get pagerank next update. The cutoff date for the most recent update was around June 1st. Yours seem to have ben put online about then so you were too late for the last update. Two or three weeks from now you should start showing pagerank.

    That depends.

PR is not a big concern for me, though having a PR7 is nice. It doesn’t help you in the rankings, and I see sites with low PR higher than me.

Will it affect my PR? Maybe – but so far I haven’t seen that affect.

Will it affect my rankings? Doesn’t appear to have done so – first there was a drop but it came right back again within 24 hours, so I’m assuming it was just pulling results from a different server.

Do I recommend linking to PR0-1 sites? Of course not – but sometimes there are other concerns which are more important, such as reciprocating favors or friendship.

In the end, the decision really ought to be a personal one as long as you don’t make a habit of linking to lots of low-PR sites. PR sure hasn’t paid any of my bills… LOL…

I have checked my “partners” and found out that 50 – 70% have fooled me! :(

I hope this will not hurt my chanses to be ranked.

I will post for a honest linkexchange partnership now :)

Oh, PR don’t mean sh*t to me. As long as it’s 4 or higher.

The Google’s page rank and Yahoo’s web rank dont amount to nothing. My website is ranking fine just as it it PR6 on Google and Web Rank 0 on Yahoo :)

Only 10 outward links per page?.. Why not 9 or 11?

Sites that have a link to a penalised site will be penalised?

Would that include DMOZ hence Google too?

Does anyone have any points of reference this can be researched from please?

In sports, superstars get the breaks. Michael Jordan could take and extra step, Barry Bonds has a smaller strike zone. An authoritative site that links to 1000 good sites, and gets links from 500 good sites, can afford to link to several penalized sites.

The less credibility and authority to your domain has, the more careful you should be. The higher percenatge of bad links you have, the more you should worry. The lower quality your linking is in general, the lower the threshold likely will be before you are penalized.

IMO google puts alot of emphasis on the anchor text of links pointing to your site. So having 500 sites linking to you with “online casino” is better than having 1000 linking to you with things like “this site” or “my friends casino site”.

BUT in the above example the site with 1000 links will have a higher PR (theoretically) but the page with 500 links will rank higher for the term “online casino”.

What i’m trying to say is that the number in your PR means absolutly nothing, but if you’ve got a high PR and every site that contributes to your PR links to you with the same anchor text, then guaranteed you will rank higher than any other site with a lower PR. Guaranteed.

This is why it’s better to have a few good links, than heaps of crappy ones.

That’s my theory anyway, and it seems to work OK. Add this one to the ever increasing algo theory list.

a few moths – a site had top google position (3-4) for “online casino” and PR0 (just for having 5000 sites linking to it with “online casino”)
pr, traffic, SE position and only at least – site content :)

Wow. According to that 1,040 sites link to me. I haven’t looked them over but I assume a lot of that is all my posting everywhere. I have some 15 outbound links to low pr places since 8 or 9 months. I used to have about 100 but found them not to be linking back and tossed them back then.

With all those sites linking to me I still have a pr4. I frankly never cared much about it because the games section just took care of itself and the casino section got PPC traffic.

Now that the usual PPC isn’t available I am starting to pay attention.

If I can get as many links to my casino section as I have to my games section I should be floating on cloud seven.

Nicely summarized, Classics – I agree. And I also agree with Eyes Coffee – it appears that the linking text has a stronger influence (or just appears that way due to some other changes).

    Dominique,
I am only getting 33 links if i check your site 😮

How can I trust sites like this when I check sites I know have a bunch of links and on this site only 2 is showing?

A question, if i link myself, is it good or bad?

I have seen sites linking themself alot(links on their site) and they have a high ranking and showing the links as positive links in the site shown above. (http://www.webmasterbrain.com/prog/)
