PatrickMMemberThe affiliate manager is a minimum of $150K of your budget already.
Throw into the mix another three developers and a front end guy thats $300K a year.
What have you got left…$300K – SEO budget of $150K and then wrap it up with freeroll promotions:
first 1/4 of 5K freerolls ($15K)
second 1/4 10K freerolls ($30K)
third quarter 15K freerolls ($45K)
fourth quarter 20K freerolls ($60K)There goes the $750K. Easy come, easy go. Get a casino and make more money :roflmao::roflmao::roflmao:

1. Set up an affiliate program.
2. Pay a dedicated affiliate manager to run the program and recruit affiliates. Would pay a manager that had experience in the industry and a ton of contacts, not a new person to the industry.
3. Have them work out affiliate deals to their contacts.
4. Pay for advertising on high traffic sites.
5. Pay someone to write articles daily for your site.
6. Pay someone to help with link acquisition.

InactiveBranding, branding and more branding by spending 200k on merchandise brand name etc… as players love free stuff…
SEO is tough to put a price on but key, as well as placement on key sites for a period of no less than three months.

InactiveIn the curent climate you would need much more that that to market a poker room properly.
I wouldn’t do it.
Spending 750,00 on quantifiable campaign will be hard. You can waste it away dead easy, but measureable? I don’t think so.

Inactive$750.000 may sound as a lot, but it’s not that much for a new operation.
Are you counting in this budget the available cash flow reserve you need, since the credit card processors withhold the money for quit a while with new merchants?
Set up an affiliate program right away; however be careful with getting all of your new traffic from affiliates. You cannot allow more than 30% (max 40%) of players be tied with affiliates. Otherwise your profit margin will go drastically down, and after paying software, royalty and commissions you’ll be left with nothing.
Please consider developing CD campaigns, really strong sales team, and hire a customer retention manager!

Did you mean the salary or marketing budget for affiliate program?I meant affiliate director. They would then hire two managers.

I don’t think you can realistically compete in this market with a new room and your budget.[/quote]
You don’t need to compete, just take a share of the market. A lot of people fear setting up because of the giants out there but a lot of these giants focus on core markets and neglect other areas that an have HUGE ASS returns.
Bear that one in mind :hattip:

Poker is a “slow burner”, you gotta put in the time and effort and ultimately spend money. Casino is instantly gratifying because it’s an instant profit/loss.

InactiveWith that budget I wouldn’t open a poker room. There are other projects with better and safer return of investment, and without so much work.

You said it! And risk involved. But, I think the question is if one wanted to start a poker room.
