misswiggMemberDefinitely a good thing & T&C’s aren’t rectroactively changed very often on welcome bonuses

InactiveThe welcome bonus is used by everyone to draw in customers. For that it is super. But it is surely not always as ‘useful’ as the ‘headlines’ suggest.
I believe that slotland has the lowest wagering requirement.

MissMMemberI think welcome bonuses are a great way to get players, but I am always honest to visitors and tell them about wagering and that if they want winnings right away, not to use a bonus.

jackcksnMemberHello,
most players only make small or medium deposits at the very 1st beginning. I don’t think, more and more welcome bonus is the key. Payouts without problems, good support and player-friendly gameplay are for German players more important then a big welcome bonus.

seedingltdMemberA welcome bonus has many factors, and it enables a different style of play. There really is too much to be considered when asking such a general question. Yes Slotland has the lowest wagering, but lots of other online casinos have 400% bonus with no max cash out as well. Although we can set aside the BS and really cut to the chase here…
In Order of Importance:
Is there a max cash out?
Is the playthrough over 30X or 25X (deposit+bonus)?
Is the bonus cashable, meaning its is not a “phantom bonus”… aka not stcky?
Will the player bet a substantially higher amount per spin, and the bonus is not capped per spin at under $5?
Does the player want to spend a long time at the casino, or do they want to make a quit hit and run?
If the answers are all yes, than that player would probably see a lot of benefit in using welcome bonuses when they make a deposit. Of course, finding one that fits all of these criteria is very difficult, but that the technical answer. In order to catch a new players, describing all of this will not help much… they are still a tremendous tool to give people a taste of the slots and/or games longer, and thus, they have attracted a unbelievable amount of traffic and sign ups over the years. For affiliates, they are a good thing.

InactiveIt all depends on the casino and the terms attached to the bonuses on offer. As long as players are made aware of the wagering requirements, then I don’t see a problem. Decent casinos and portals for that matter too, will provide this info.
As a player whenever I accept a bonus, I always play with annihilating the WR attached in mind. Therefore depositing what I can afford to lose, but upping my bet stake to high amounts, should I get a half decent win. With the sole goal of meeting the WR ASAP. It works as well.
Just yesterday I played at an MGS casino I didn’t have an account with, deposited all told $650 and received in the process $250 by way of bonuses. Thunderstruck at $9 a spin and 5 hammers came in

Ended up cashing out just over $2100.

Now just waiting for the bugbear of mine that is the reverse withdrawal period to be over, hence working from home today. As I don’t have the casino installed on my laptop or the account details here :colgate:.

jackcksnMemberHello,
many German players 1st deposit is not more as 20, 50 or 100 Euro. They don’t care about thousands of bonus. German Roulette players know, that a sticky bonus is a risk if the terms and conditions are not good for this game.
If anybody ask me, i suggest him to speak or write with an operator before making the 1st deposit, never getting any bonus.
But bonus is still a gift (if it is not sticky). In real Casinos here in Germany you can be happy if you will get free entry and maby Sunday afternoon a cup of coffee and a piece of cake.
But only until 18:00 Uhr in the evening or all cake is eaten up.
And this offer………..
ONE time a month!
Boss Media bonus for example is real money if you know how to handle it in an intilligent way.
I can’t remember, which casino…
But one year i became a deck of cards with regular mail.
A nice suprise.
For a deck of cards you must pay 5 Euro here in the real casino.

seedingltdMemberFirst of all, I really like your posts Leopold.
You are a philosopher and really funny, perhaphs a little hard to follow, I resonate with almost all of your views, in just about all of your posts. :tooconfus Here is to Leopold
The problem with bonuses in the USA is that they are ALL sticky. Every Single one of them… :rasberry:
I challenge a casino to show me differently right here.
Now when you combine that with very high processing fees, and limited resources to cashout too, I belive many players see it in this light:
“I will really only cashout if I win a LOT of money, since the fees and wire transfers, min withdrawal, and checks cost so much anyway. Using a bonus I could bet much higher amounts and try to make up the difference.”
But really it means all of these factors just make it even harder to ever win. Americans get a bad deal when it involves an online casino bonus most of the time.
My wife and I both get between $100 and $300 in free chips at several nearby casinos each month. There is no restrictions on the play, and there is no max cashout or anything stupid like that. They give you the deck of cards for free, and your drinks too. Sometimes a slot pit boss will come by and pull out your card, put in his and give you some free money. I don’t know where your local casino is but I don’t want to go there >> :shakebutt

gokkenMemberIn answer to your question, I believe all bonuses are the cause of most player issues and withdrawal disputes. They certainly cause headaches and bad press for casinos. But they continue to use them, why?
A few weeks ago I added an article over at DOCH centering around the Bogus Bonus Scam. It certainly sheds light on what some affiliate programs are doing with these comps and how they could scam affiliates.
I play exclusively at 32Red and Dash, being a VIP I don’t have an hassles. Though there are other casinos which seem to produce more than their fair share of complaints when it comes to bonus comps.

jackcksnMemberHello muffincrumbs,
thank you very much for the kind words and the interesting stories. I didn’t know e.g. that all bonus are sticky for US players and that a normal player can be a king in a casino.
4 times every year the movie “Casino” from Martin Scorsese will be shown on TV and many German players think, past and present age…………
Really impressive how many free chips you can get. If a player is asking here in Germany for a ballpoint pen to write down the spins, then they make a face like it is a great present.
They have so much fear here in land based casinos. No idea of making a good gambling entertainment, but very much fear that someone might even will get one cent too much…
Or found a chip of the floor……..
The gofer in the casino is walking & looking allways down to the floor like a penguin to catch the falling down chips.
But if there are only 20 players left…
Then one player’s chip is falling down once a year and all other 19 wants to catch it.
Oh yes, and the gofer!
He want’s to be the fastest.
Cheers, muffincrumbs!

I tend to agree but ironically my biggest whale to date; that’s over $1.6mil deposited, (who is still playing 5 years on), was snagged with a free play offer.
Personally, I don’t hammer and tongue on bonuses, free or otherwise. Though I do think if they (bonuses) are presented tastefully, you can usually avoid the riff raff who seeks out these freebies.
Albeit, generally free bets and such don’t, as a rule, produce productive players, conversions are always down with these type of players across the board.

Nice whale (wipe drool from mouth), I hope you’re on at least 35% commission.

mjollyMemberWhen i play casinos myself, wheter i use the bonus or not depends on what im gonna play. If im just playing regular slots, then i dont use the bonus because of the wager requirements, but if im playing a jackpot slot, then i use them to get as much to play for as possible, since i more or less plan to lose everything anyways, or win the jackpot, but that never happends anyways
