Inactive“A wise buyer will not pay more than a few hundred dollars at best for a site unless it was an extremely profitable one.”
Well I was considering buying one for at least 20k, a good one. There will always be sites that accept US players I believe.

InactiveThe UK won’t for sure, they’ve been deregulating for ages, abolished gambling tax, opening new supercasinos, floating online casinos in the FTSE.

InactiveA wise person mentioned to me that little stipulation in the law about if you ever do want to become a legit business(casino) when the law is lifted, you cannot have ever been found to be breaking this new law. I am not saying that Wagershare has hopes to one day become legit in the USA but that is something to think about, I am really upset about this too, the law has not been signed yet and there are so many other casinos finding all sorts of loop-holes in this damn thing!
I want to know Wagershare where are my players going to be when you re-open to the US market, tagged under me still?

(“FireOne” or the “Company”)Statement regarding United States Internet Gambling Legislation – Update
On 2 October 2006, the Company made an announcement regarding the passing of the
Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of 2006 by the United States
Congress. The Company today announces that following the approval of the Act by
the President of the United States, it will immediately cease to process
settlement transactions originating from United States consumers that may be viewed
as being related to online gambling. The Company expects the Act to be approved
by the President of the United States in the immediate near term.As previously announced, upon becoming law, the Act will have a significant
negative impact on the business and results of operations of the Company, and,
consequently, the Company has embarked upon a restructuring of its operations
and cost base. The Company will continue to offer its multi-currency credit and
debit card and FirePay electronic wallet processing to the online gambling
industry originating from non-U.S. consumers and not prohibited by the Act, and
will consider additional card-not-present payment processing opportunities
outside of online gambling. The Company’s Board will continue to update shareholders as and when
appropriate.– Ends –

vladcizsolMemberWhat makes anyone think that these companies will some day magically reappear in the US?
And if that does happen and it is years in the future that your Players will have been waiting around credit card in hand for that to happen?
You guys have a “gut feeling” that online gambling will eventually be legalized because it’s too popular with the American public, eh?
How many Americans used to smoke Marijhuana on a daily basis, millions? Was IT decriminalized and legislated and taxed because it made more sense to do so?
Guys are they going to add a new law which repeals this one to a future terrorism bill too? Maybe the Safe Toilets Act?
I know I am going to be labeled a doom sayer, but come on, shit, when the Titanic was sinking were there people who decided to NOT panic and to stay in their cabins because they were told this was a ship that couldnt be sunk? I bet there were… I bet they are still there…

InactiveYes, it’s a sinking ship.. the casino operators are the women and children getting off safely while their affiliates, the old men, are left aboard. The problem is they punch another hole in the side of the ship as each one deboards, and affiliates lose confidence in the industry they supported for years.
The absolute worst scenario is that the DOJ is already prepared to begin implementing and enforcing the bill. If true, the 270 day cushion that everyone believes they have will dissappear, and the ship will sink very quickly. This may be why many casinos are departing now.
There will certainly be more announcements this week leading up to the bills passage (IT WILL PASS), and then everybody will have to wait until Monday to see who is definately in the US market, and who is out. And then, we will have to decide if this is an industry that we can all support, or do we just jump ship into the unkown icy waters.
Three options:
1. Only promote casinos that do not permit U.S. residents to play.
2. Promote all casinos, and hope to stay off the radar of the DOJ.
3. Get the hell outLike the casinos, we affiliates have to keep aprised of all new developments, and make our own decisions. I would love to wake up tomorrow, and think this was all a dream, but it’s not
Oh.. and professor, you cracked me up with “The Safe Toilets Act” – is that the one where we all have to use a maximum of three squares of paper per sitting
as always, just my two cents

Mr Wipple was arrested and charged with being a left wing commie pinko and is being held incognito at Gitmo. (If anyone was wondering whatever happened to him) :roflmao:

We all know that US players were the major income for many affiliates and therefor for many programs/operators.The more affiliates will leave this industry, the less traffic and earnings for the casinos. This is not easy for anyone, I am sure no program is delighted to announce closing the doors to US players
At the bottom line, many affiliates will not survive this impact and will find other ways of earning money… The same goes for all the smaller programs that will not make it without US players.

There’s some good there … Italy used to be ferociously
against it … maybe the online operations can get
their act together and start NOW to mount the comeback
campaign.

InactiveWhy not do a massive cross link exchange so this story ranks very high on google. Put are special interests aside and let are concerns be known.
We are the best at doing this! Just a thought but I think it would be good idea.
