InactiveSimon, we need to know who is down because of dos attacks. We need to turn off our ppc traffic temporarily so it doesn’t shoot into space. We need to know so we can protect our own income as well as show solidarity to programs.
Let those criminals know the industry will stick together. Because we do.

InactiveHey Dom,
I hear ya.
What happened when the sportsbook’s got attacked in October and I feel no one wants a repeat of, is that one particular book was under attack and the book contacted each player and told them a backdoor entrance through a different IP. Hence players were able to wager again, and affiliates were making money again.
One player thought he was doing the right thing and posted the backdoor entrance IP Address on a forum and then within minutes the backdoor entrance was attacked. Hence at the end of the day these attackers monitor these forums very closely. So I just ask everyone to use caution and watch what they say.
Listing the ones under attack to help affiliates save money on PPC and other campaigns on the go is reasonable…

vladcizsolMemberExcellent Point Simon.
Guys if you are given a private entrance for stats or players to access a casino or sportsbook please do NOT publish that URL on the message boards. As Simon points out its very possible that the wrong eyes may view that alternate path and attack it as ell.
Thanks for the heads up

InactiveHello and Good morning fellow webmasters!
I saw the posting on DoS attacks and had to add my two cents. I am not online a on-line casino and portal owner but I developed one of the first linux intrusion detection systems (as a computer hacker) a while back. I am extremely well known in the computer hacking underground and have written several advirsories and whitepapers on how to project against DoS attacks. I emailed the Professor a few days ago in regards to being able to develop a program that contained linkstate information for all the sites you link to as a webmaster/portal operator. This program would connect to any casino site you linked to and if the site was down during the “data queue” process the linkstate engine would switch to another advertised casino that was still up and functioning without latancy. I have worked in the past as the senior research scientist at Network Associates and assisted in the development of Mcaffee virii scanner so please feel free to email or contact me via the forum if you have questions about these types of attacks. I would really like to plan some sort of sit down with the senior members in order to contact these casinos in order to assist them in their efforts to counter attack these types of situations. Like I emailed Prof. It makes more sense for them to pay a one time consulting fee to someone to fix the situation rather than paying some sort of ridiculous randsom in hopes that they are not targets in the future. This is not the era of the mob and these petty cyber thugs should be no match to this casinos if they have a strongly enforced security policy.

That program could be useful to us with or without DDOS attacks.
I am interested in finding out more.

Don’t sweat the typos. Ace :p

InactiveIf everybody went to the start button then to “run” and typed in “cmd” then at the prompt typed “netstat -a” you’d be able tos ee active connections. Now try “ping casinoname.com” that is how you get a report of the casinos current TTL or “time to live” we can use this information in the linkstate process I mentioned in a previous post to let us know which sites are not holding up… which sites are on the verge of being extremely lagged and which sites are currently not responding to data. This will allow us to automatically shift our linkstate data in order to prevent our web users from connecting to sites that might not be able to track or log information at that particular time due to their stats or tracking server being down or in the process of going down. This will help protect us from loosing our ROI and the quality traffic that is continually sent to our casino websites. When I have time I will try to put something together that everybody can use. Let me know if you want me to keep you posted.

InactiveThe program will be similar to those webmaster banner rotation systems and if anything atleast just as easy to install and use. The main idea that is the core of the program is that the link for the banner or text link only changes if the linkstate of the site is it trying to connect to is affected. That way if there are any descrepencies instead of connecting to a link that might send a user into a black hole it will go to the link engine find a link with greater integrity and instead re-direct the user to that link. I would like to include a criteria mark for the program as well that will allow the webmaster to tweak the quality of connection they are willing to send traffic to. That way we can create a benchmark and say “ok well I only want traffic to go to sites that are operating above this particular connection level. If the connection is inbetween mid to high then send traffic if it is’nt find one that is. This way we are always sending our users to sites that will be speedy and serve our traffic with the fastest downloads and quickest game play.
