Yes, this is a really bad situation.
Casinos also need to imprive security so they can hold up to it.
Focal has good security now and is holding up well so far.

InactiveHey Prof.
Did you by any chance get my emails to you about figuring out payment alternatives for the casinos that we promote. i;e cash coupons. The other email was about a program that would assist affiliates in stopping potential loss of ROI or commission pay on traffic to sites that are down or under dos attack?

InactiveI talked to Focal this morning, and they are holding up well, everything is working but the mail is erratic.
So it would be a good idea to hold off with the mail until things calm down.
All other functions are just fine.

InactiveLol, I am stupid too, but it is the operating system. You have it in your computer also, and when you start-up there is generally a way to go into dos and change some settings.

InactiveOk, I know that. So they are just using the DOS program to take down serveres?

InactiveNo they try to strain the operating system until it crashes, usually just by overloading it.
March 2, 2004 at 4:07 pm #645623Anonymous
InactiveHmmm, So they hack the host? I just don’t get how they do it.

InactiveThey send so many requests for service to the server that it cannot handle it and crashes.

GuestDenial of Service attacks = DOS
Not the DOS we’re familiar with.“Attackers have been known to use the following 4 programs to launch DDoS attacks: Trinoo, TFN, TFN2K and Stacheldraht. “

InactiveLet’s try not to give these internet terrorists too much exposure as that is what they want.
Also should the casino, sportsbook send you an email, telephone you with a backdoor entrance to their website then please do not post it in these forums as we do not want to assist these terrorists.
Lets fight these guys together and use our heads!
