InactiveDear Search123 Advertiser,
As a result of the recent increase in our network of high-quality distribution partners, Search123 is increasing its minimum cost-per-click. As of April 16, 2004, the minimum cost-per-click on the Search123 network will be $.05
Good thing you guys have sucked so bad that I haven’t used you in over a year…
But hey… thanks for the email.

Guestyou had me going for a min.
If S123 (which launched me into making some real dough way, way back, and I think its a shame how far they’ve sunk…) was going to stop selling that fake-per-click crap to gambling advertisers, I was thinking of giving up and getting a job asking “…would you like fries with that?”
that they’ve boldly upped the minimum for their traffic is however, also a surprise. I bet there’s a lot of people out there that didn’t mind getting ripped-off at a $.01 a shot; but will take a much harder look at performance now that this has went up.

InactiveToo true. I thought that when ValueClick bought them 18 months or so ago, they would start to re-position them in the contextual advertising space, but no, they obviously couldn’t be bothered. Search123 do suck the big one, I have to agree.
Incidentally, hi, I’m new here (been lurking a couple of weeks though). Not new to affiliate marketing though or to marketing online gambling – been at that a couple of years. So, once again, hello all.

InactivePersonally, I only use Overture for PPC traffic.
FindWhat used to be good, but I have not tried them lately,
so I don’t know how they rate these days.Anybody here using FindWhat? How are you doing?
Any other smaller PPC SE’s that are worth a crap any more?
I know it’s tough for them to compete with the big boys these days.

Inactive7Search will convert if you manage the campaign properly, as will GoClick. FindWhat also. I just ran a brief test with Mamma with inconclusive results – $1 a click is fairly affordable but the money went a little too rapidly and no real money players yet. Gonna have to put some more money in there to come to a real conclusion.
Actually, I’d only rule out Search123 and Kanoodle completely from a list of the main second tier PPCs. I took over a PPC campaign for a major UK online casino about a year or so ago where their aim was to reduce costs as much as possible but keep the same number of new depositing players (they paid me 50% of the saving each month) and one of the first things I did was kill all Kanoodle advertising. Pretty much all the others they used (Overture, Espotting, AdWords, FindWhat, 7Search, GoClick, LookSmart) we got some ROI from.

Guestwelcome Tryme1.
Now Shhhhhhhhh!
I must agree. but also will echo a few words up there that many are needing to read again.
Manage accounts well
go running in there and start paying for top position for keyword ‘online casino’ and you’ll likely be sorry unless you happen to catch a whale coming thru.
It DO happen now and then.

Thanks for the welcome, bb1webs. I thought it was common knowledge that you could make money out of 2nd tier PPCs. So I’m certainly not going to mention that if you are crazy enough to bid on the high traffic/lower conversion terms, you should aim to be just below the fold and promote only on the USP of the casino/sportsbook you are marketing. Nope, not even going to whisper it. Ooops
