vladcizsolMemberI love CAPtober fest idea. Germany is probably no m,ore costly then comparable European settings. I also like Dubrovnik as its stunning to look at. We could do Bruge (Belgium) just saw the movie and love the mid evil city charm. There are so many great idea out there and fortunately we have enough time to kick it around befor making a final decision.
Criteria remains:
1. Safe and Clean European City
2. Easily accessible with reasonable airfare to and from.
3. Fun location and city ammenities like great restaurants and night clubs.
4. Competitively priced so we can enjoy bigger and more elaborate events and parties.
5. Availability of conference facilites large enough to accomodate at least 2000 people. (Single floor please)
6. Favorable weather. I dont want cold and rainy venue.October 2, 2008 at 4:12 pm #780736

I actually think France makes the best destination but don’t suppose BWin would be too keen.
Italy is a bit of a rip off. It is beautiful though. In fact, it’s probably the most beautiful and definitely the most charming.
Germany is like Reading or Basingstoke. It’s bleak and has no character.
Spain has good weather, nice Islands and beaches. The cities are hopeless though.
Denmark, Sweden, Norway…etc… supposedly beautiful. Too cold for me though. I live in a cold, wet country so I don’t want to holiday in one with potentially worse weather.
Russia – that’s for the smug people who say ‘We don’t go to touristy places.’ Well, I bet these people never went when it was the Soviet Union.
Austria/Switzerland – I’ve been to both and they are beautiful. No chance of being ripped off. Trouble is they are German speaking and full of Ski type twats.
Belgium – not a proper country.
Holland – good for only two things.
All those countries between Germany and Russia – if I want to go to a Third World> Hey Russ, how are those networking strategies working out for you?
or are you just too busy with the anger management classes? :roflmao:

Hmmm, I think I take offense at that.
There are a lot of very beautiful cities in germany, castles, rivers, mountains, beaches etc etc etc. Germany has just about every landscape you can think of, excellent food of all descriptions (lots and oodles of restaurants of every ethnicity), and even better beer and wine.
Take a cruise down the Rhine river and then tell me that again!

InactiveGermany could be a cool location for a CAP event if we don’t have any legal issues. CAPtober FEST sounds interesting.
I am not sure if Prague has already been suggested. But if we are a bit careful and don’t get mugged or pick pocketed, Prague would be a lovely location for a CAP conference. Same goes for Budapest – cheaper and more fun.

InactiveProbably better to stick to a country that doesn’t class this industry as illegal though

InactiveOktoberfest brings pickpockets to town. They are brought in from other countries by tourist bus loads and work the Oktoberfest.
The Germans are doing what they can to turn buses around at the border etc etc. The good news is that they are just pick pockets, not muggers. If they can’t pluck your wallet without you taking notice, they won’t.
Crime is a problem everywhere.
Barcelona is just excessive.

Oh no  say it isn’t so! I flew about 18hrs, reached Vegas, arrived 9am, went from hotel straight to the Star Trek Muesum, then spent 2hrs in the gift shop.
Renee I don’t think Star Trek Conventions make it to Australia do they? I’d go as a Klingon.

ooooooooooh what about CAP Jamaica MON??!!!! :rasta:
hmm I thought the idea was to reduce the number of muggings

Munich is not too expensive but not mega cheap either but hotels are a bit scarce so would need to start booking early. Oktoberfest is incredible though absolutely one of the things you have to do at least once in life. Having said all that I would not be adverse to a CAP pretty much anywhere in Germany, how about a CAP Berlin, that place is supposed to rock! A CAP Florence would also be very very cool.
Places that would be stupid expensive are CAP Oslo and CAP Rekjavik although the women there would go quite some way towards compensating. :inlove:October 2, 2008 at 9:16 pm #780782
