InactiveI did put this post up because I feel if programs and affiliates are going to support CAP – the questions must be asked and a response must be made. Not by CAP ownership but by the real community.
100% totally agree and as far as the forums not having any value I strongly disagree it has a lot of value imo.
now that certification doesn’t exist anymore and affiliate programs can stick around and post and help out without fear of chastisement for not being “certified” i think its a good idea for programs to maybe get on the “wait and see” approach..
I agree this is a very important change towards the future, I never did agree with a program being blocked or banned from answering or helping affiliate once they decided not to continue with the certification. To me this is a positive step in the right direction.

Oh and re this – These rarely work in my opinion – In my old job I ran an engineering magazine and Ford ran a massive recruitment campaign in us and The Telegraph and asked all their applicants where they saw the ad – The top preformer was a magazine not even included in the campaign as people just named the first mag that came in their head which at the time was the market leader so it simply was the first one that came to mind.
LOL, so true. In the online world it’s such an easy fix to use tracking codes instead… don’t even like pulldowns as the first option I would look for is “other”

With a tracking code – not only do you get more accurate information, the respondent has one less question to bother him/her!

Scratch2CashMemberI agree with pjotter paying commissions and proper tracking are the top priorities with out them you don’t have a program. I also think being part of a community can be beneficial. But 99% of my affiliates have a personal affiliate manager and have my info to contact me any time and they do. If issues arise and get fixed in a timely matter do they need to be called out by an affiliate in the forums who just started? (has not happened but have seen it)
That is up to affiliates to decide.
I think a free flow of ideas and information helps us all be better and more successful – but the big question is the community strong enough to make real changes at CAP – what would you see as a perfect CAP for both sides?April 25, 2009 at 5:13 pm #799091Anonymous

It is possible I think and the key to getting the site acceptable for both sides is communication just like what is happening in this thread. Knowing your opinions will not be stomped on or edited out is a huge plus as well.

Scratch2CashMemberI communication is key to improve – but you still need people to implement them. words only become cheep if nothing is done. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.
I will be in Amsterdam (travel day) so if your there and have a comment – please let me know – I am looking for all the input I can get.

Scratch2CashMemberAs promised I will also be transparent in all discussions I have with CAP. I did tell Yvette and Warren I would post the out come of our meeting.
First I must give credit to Warren for standing up and not hiding from the facts and admitting mistakes were made. I will say it is not what I expected – he was humble and did not try to spin the blame or make excuses. He also let me know that he will have to earn the trust of affiliates and affiliate programs but is committed to doing it.
I am done sitting on the fence and sitting around and waiting – I hope CAP proves me right.
The details of the improvements to CAP were not clear and projects were vague, they are still working out the details I am sure that they will take the ideas from programs and affiliates they talked to.
Unfortunately I am still not closer to making a choice on the extra’s CAP will be offering. I know that CAP has value but still not sure how much. I know many affiliate managers are not happy with the financial side for good reason. I hope more programs will keep an open dialogue with other affiliate programs so this will never happen again.
For affiliates I was told that the main goal for cap is giving more real information to help all affiliates grow. I know Bob will give us all some great knowledge – many more to come according the CAP staff.
I also offered to help CAP so that it will help me and my present and future affiliates – I hope it comes true.
Let me know your thoughts and please add your 2 cents – I would like to hear if you talked to Warren or with CAP staff, and what you came away with.

Dom honestly if you were in my shoes would you invest in CAP? And why? I want to do the most for my affiliates – is cap a good way to support them?
Hello friend.
A) Advertising is ROI <--> ROI is advertising. don’t let anyone fool you otherwise.
Long term – Branding is for players, not for affiliates, therefore I personally do not believe in “spreading the word out”. its all about affiliates, players, and ROI.
CAP affiliates DO follow trackers, nonsense to claim they don’t, please don’t insult our intelligence using this claim – it is less than unprofessional.
The very few that do not follow trackers – We track them at the minute they reply.Best,
Shay

Scratch2CashMemberI also agree – I did try to say that earlier – we all know were affiliates hear about us. Affiliates appreciate a business relationship and in turn communication is key. Like were did you hear about us :wink-wink
Shay you were just better at getting to the point – thank you :hattip:

InactiveI have to disagree with this – Maybe you guys are differnt and you speak to all your affiliates –
I do a bit of “affiliating” as a hobby and all the programs I work with have no idea why I joined or where I came from and most of the time it has been from the posts etc in this forum from the AM and other affiliates along with checking AGD re the terms, not once has an AM ever asked me why I joined them and to be honest if they asked or had the question box I would never say CAP as I would be worried I would be a 2nd teir affiliate which may affect my rev share %
If you have an incredible relationship with every affiliate and they are 100% honest then of course you know where they come from but I don’t think this is teh case with the bulk of the programs.
I am also not just talking CAP here I am talking all forums generally –
On another note you would not believe the impact you have being active in a forum – You may not realise it but many of the bigger affiliates scan the forums on a daily basis and although it isn’t the decider whether they work with you, dump you or become interested it certainly has an influence

InactiveIn 8 years no one ever asked me where I heard of them…. occasionally a program will have a box where you have to check something or click “other” and add your own – I don’t like filling forms and want to move on, so I check the first thing and move along.
I also have never clicked a banner to go to a new aff program. I see the banner, I look at their forum to see what’s being said and then type the name in my browser.
Now everyone has different habits online, so thats just me.

Scratch2CashMemberAlex – I guess we do have a great affiliate team
On the average I do have an open dialog with 95% of my affiliates. I do agree that affiliates do read posts and can get an opinion about your program. But not the first place they found out.
That being said does that mean we could never track ROI? I don’t agree – it might not be clear like an affiliate program – but we do have matrix to measure ROI.
I think the big question for me – will CAP have ROI to an affiliate? That is all I care about in the end. If affiliates get real info and help the word will get out and CAP will have ROI to affiliate programs. It takes research and time to become a successful affiliate. In the end affiliates and affiliate programs are a lot alike.
I am looking forward to the big changes and flow of info – I will give all the info I can to help make this work. I am sure others will too.

Scratch2CashMemberDom
If you sign up to a program – chances are it came due to a relationship you had at an event, a forum or because you are well known for your experience and knowledge.
You have given lots of great info and are well respected – I think most programs seek you out

So I know that Dom came from my involvement in CAP = ROI
