InactiveExactly what I was trying to say earlier.
It is NOT illegal for Germans to Play.
It is however illegal to market. The fact that the casinos have a German section is not enough for the authorities to do anything. You may not have a .de domain and definitely not market in Germany itself without a licence – Affiliate or Casino. Affiliates need licences as well.
But as long as you do not live in Germany, and do not own a .de domain.. there is little that they can do.

InactiveJarvi wrote:There still needs to be a differentiation between players and affiliates though, so the situation is covered where it is legal to play but illegal to market. That’s all I was trying to point out with my previous comments. To clarify a bit better – this thread is to create a list of countries that allows online gambling for our marketing purposes. So in essence, this is for affiliates. If certain countries allow online gambling with certain stipulations it can always be added as a side note next to the country.
If anybody knows of of any more countries, please let me know.
Thanks!

InactiveIt’s summer, some laws pass unnoticed, this is what I read in my newspaper this morning:
In Belgium, sportsbetting tickets can not be bought anymore in the local stores, only ‘accredited’ sport bookies are allowed to sell.
What is the ‘accreditation‘ than? Well, the bookies will have to pay a warranty (this may be the wrong word for it)to the state so the state can pay the gamblers if the bookie turns out to be a scam/insolvent.
Gamblers who place bets in not accredited sportsbookies face fines up to 25 000 euros! (Nothing is said about affiliates)
This was NOT in the news yesterday, and is a 200 word article today in the newspaper… e-gambling is definitely not a big (enough) issue yet here!

InactiveWether or not it is legal to market is important to know. With reference to Germany, contrary to popular belief it is also illegal to play at online casinos (i.e. not state licensed casinos) there just hasn´t been a case yet where the government has enforced this law.
And yes, the free 888 and partypoker ads piss me off as well. Surely that shouldn´t be allowed. That´s advertising through the backdoor. Same rules for everyone.

InactiveJarvi wrote:It’s illegal to market interactive gambling to Australians. Section 61EA of the INTERACTIVE GAMBLING ACT 2001Thanks for that info. I will have to take Austrailia off the list then.

InactiveJust remember that the law is probably only applicable to Australians so it might be fine for others to market to them. Although I would avoid things like .com.au domains. As for the disclaimer, I’m no lawyer and dislike reading legislation.

InactiveIt makes me sick that someone tries to order me what to do. If it doesn’t hurt my health or anyone, why can’t I spend MY money wherever and whenever I want? So playing in a local casino is good, but playing in a foreign one is bad? Yeap, because everyone wants a piece of the action. I’m tired of it.

InactiveThis is an excerpt from recent legislation in Ontario Canada for 2006.
Restrictions on advertising of certain Internet websites
17.1 No person shall print, publish, distribute, broadcast or telecast an advertisement or representation that includes an Internet gaming business website address unless the person believes in good faith that the Internet gaming business has been licensed or otherwise granted permission to operate in Ontario or Canada by the appropriate authority and is operated in accordance with the applicable laws of Ontario and Canada.
The full details are here. http://www.ontla.on.ca/documents/Bills/38_Parliament/session2/b060_e.htm
Does this apply to people from outside of Canada/Ontario? I would interpret the first words…..”No person” to encompass anyone and everyone. But will the Canadian mounted police show up at your door on a horse and haul you back to Jail?? I doubt it…..
