In my mind its a toss up. What do you guys think?

I think: why do two human beings want to spend their time hitting each other? And why do people pay them to do it? :sarcasm:

I never got boxing, wrestling, fighting etc. Hmm OK…I’ll get me hat :hattip:

Simmo thats coz you live up in lovely Scotland :roflmao: -and the Whisky is good , as for the rest of us we take our pleasures when we can . I havent seen Kimbo but i do know about Ken Shamrock and he is a tough man .

The toughest of the lot are the gracie brothers from Brazil – they are simply superb athletes

Shamrock, although old for the fight game was and still should be a much better rounded fighter than the brawler Kimbo. Unless Shamrock has seriously deteriorated since I saw him fight last, he should win.

Kimbo should win easily, even though I don’t like him at all. His wrestling skills have improved tenfold since his Youtube days, and his strength and striking power is just ridiculous.

The ONLY way Ken Shamrock can win is if he stalls the fight a lot and makes Kimbo run around until he’s winded. Kimbo faced guys much bigger than Ken Shamrock, and still knock outted them. James Thompson (the califlower ear guy) is much bigger than Shamrock (Thompson is 6’4 and 250 pounds) and Kimbo still dazed him with punches.

So.. I don’t like Kimbo, which looks to have the IQ of an ape, but he should win..

    Were you sarcastic?
There are really 2 ways to see mixed martial arts.

1: those worthless sub-humans that cheer and want to see blood, that make it barbaric
2: a superb display of technique by amazing athletes

Being a person that supports #2, I despise the people that are in category one. 10-15 years ago the sport was barbaric and the people in crowds were mostly redneck bitches cheering for blood. Times have changed.

No not at all Jack. I just never understood it. Martial Arts I see as slightly different in that it primarily existed to teach self defence and (correct me if I’m wrong), is designed to repel an aggressor rather than be the aggressor.

And yes, the Category 1 audience are the ones that make me shudder. On the rare occassions I’ve seen boxing, it strikes me the audience appreciates the aggression on display.

Wrestling seems pretty harmless though I guess – more like theatre in that it’s pre-rehearsed and staged. But I still don’t understand why people like it ;)

Petruzelli (11-4), who was a last-minute replacement for MMA legend Ken Shamrock against Slice (3-1), took advantage of his opportunity of a lifetime. Just second in, he scored with a front kick on an incoming Slice and followed it up with a lightning-quick right hand that knocked Slice to the mat. Realizing he had the much-bigger Slice in trouble, Petruzelli pounced, firing off a dozen unanswered shots before referee Troy Waugh stopped the bout at the 14-second mark.

There you have it – no Shamrock and Slice gets dummied by a less than seasoned fighter. I think Shamrock would have done likewise.

What about the lovely and undefeated Gina Carano :inlove:

Gracies are a tough family but I believe the best in the world has to go to Fedor Emelianenko.

Emelianenko is arguably one of the best fighters in any weight class period. Pound for pound Silva and GSP are also up there…

The fight on the weekend was a let down. Gina Carano is a fight machine!

Intersting Article about Kimbo being a manufactured farce:

    http://sports.yahoo.com/mma/news?slug=dw-kimbo100508&prov=yhoo&type=lgns

Now, I am not saying I would want to tangle with Kimbo, and against most guys in the street hes more then a handful, but a well trained MMA fighter SHOULD destroy him with little effort. I think Ken would have put him out quickly as well.

    FYI
Arlovski asked to swap fights and Kimbo’s people refused to respond, that would have been an even wprse slaughter of the big man. I like Slice, he looks mean but hes really a bar room/Street fighter. Nothing more at this point.
