Yep. That is how that segment thinks. And we have a few blackhatters I am aware of here also.

I appreciate the post informative. But the techiniques used by blackhatters or what could be called cracker or malicious hackers are infinate. Its a unfornate reality, but some help is forthcoming. greek39

That´s like saying crime may be unethical but if your strategy is to get rich at all costs you may as well try it!

    Rediculous!:whoa:

I remember sitting in the European SEO talk at CAC – I remember the speaker making a point that there’s no such thing as black or white hat, it’s all risk assessment.

If you’re prepared to gamble all for top spot go for the methods the SEs kindly ask you not to use, if not then stick with the approved guidelines.

I you are looking short-term, then Black Hat may provide some options, no matter how dubious it is. In my opinion, if you are serious about your web strategy, it requires a long-term vision and Black Hat doesn’t fit into that strategy at all.

Unfortunately black hat works and it is a good marketing plan for some people.

Last year in webmasterworld a blackhatter said that his company was runnning 1,000 mini sites with an average profit of $100 per site.
No content, no linking no nothing.
Only the time to make the $100 until the site is banned.

Scrapers work very hard, expecting to get one click for each website they generate and having their sites removed from the engines almost as fast as their programs generate them.

The techniques that allow the sites to live longer also make the losses a lot harder when they do get removed, which they will.

I think they work harder than us and get more grey hairs.

For me blackhat is not an option, I simply don’t know the methods, or the methods are above my technical ability.

But if I did I would happily use them – why? because traffic is our business, not content.

Don’t get me wrong I put a lot of energy to my content & presentation, but I don’t kid myself that most visitors would happily buy from a less content rich site. It was just a case that they stumbled across my site instead of someone else’s.

Ooh! I am sitting back in my ring side seat to watch this thread!

Seriously, you would think differently if you were the victim of an attack. Trust me, get ites banned becaue of a black hat scraper and you look at this differently.

Blackhat ain’t going away. The SE’s can’t keep ahead long enough. There are some clever people out there who make a lot of money. Think about it – clever techies with rebellious attitude, throw in the money incentive and add a bit of bravado and they aren’t going nowhere.

I have done a bit of investigation in the last week to try and understand what we are up against – it ain’t pretty and it scares me.

I decided to email a guy who is quite active on a few forums and asked him whether he can REALLY get other people banned. His exact reply was “I exist to use other people’s website to make money AND to get them banned”. Proceeded to tell me how much fun it is….

I would rip this fellow up so bad he would be doing nothing but watching T.V providing I don’t turn that off as well. Would you happen to have his email?

That would piss me off rotten – but hey, can’t beat them join them.

As I say traffic is our business. We should do whatever it takes to get that.

Hey si its more like this is you can’t beat them beat on them. Blackhatters are pretty much on my hit list. I would be interested in knowing the email address justred received the information from. I belong to many blackhatter forums private ones as well. These people for the most part a lazy thinkers, some are very bright. The bright ones I do hold to some extent respect. But this does not blind me from the reality of the situation.

When you are driven by money you become awfully blind to reality. I give another a couple of months and there will be some major changes happening. greek39^*

Hey si I find your post interesting “we should do whatever it takes” to get traffic?” “can’t beat them join them” what kind of moral high ground to you rest your head on? Money and Greed?

The blackhatter community has pissed off several people. The founding fathers who played a major role in building the internet I say are not pleased. But I quess you wouldn’t know who these people are would you? greek39^*

No offence intended but when you become too righteous you become awfully blind to reality. (just the opinion of a simple man)

The reality of the situation is that the casinos couldn’t care less how you acquired your traffic, they only care that you have some and they get a portion of it. We are just a means to an end to acquire players for the casinos. Just as content, link building or indeed blackhat tricks are a means to an end for us to acquire traffic.

Are going to stop promoting casinos because some guy emails you saying gambling is immoral?

How many of these black hatter affiliates do you think have been told to cease and desist by the casinos?

I agree with almost nothing you say. However, above is 100% correct. Look at 888.com – they are not even allowing Shelly to respond anymore (in my opinion). Why? Because they think it will all go away if they keep quiet. They do NOT want to shut down the BH people because they make them a shit-load of money.
