You probably know this but make sure you rewrite them otherwise you´ll get punished for duplicate content.

Unless of course, it’s the article I spent so much time writing and submitting yesterday… :nono:

Seriously though, articles are commonly reprinted all over the web without penalty to the news sites that grab ’em off the wire, so is this potentially just SEO paranoia?

I think it’s more a matter of how they’re used. If you’re using articles like traditional news items; displaying author, time/date, rotating in new articles on a regular basis, mixing them into an already content rich environment and staying clear of spammy marketing tactics, I’d say you’re fine.

If, on the other hand, you slap all the articles in a DB and pump out 6 million pages of the same schlock on site after site after site, and send out a blog spamming bot to get ’em linked and crawled, you might get dropped at some point. Is that then the duplicate content that got the sites dropped?

These are two extremes at either end of the spectrum, but my point is: are the articles just a shortcut to building a real site, or are they an integral part of a real site?

Writing and re-writing are essentially the same thing in the end, so if you’re worried about duplicate content, you might as well just get a couple books from the library, do some research and start writing. At least it’ll be fresh content.

    Until some scraper comes along…

I use http://searchwarp.com/ and http://www.contenttycoon.com/ alot I generally submit to about 35 submission sites for each article actually though.

I also try to post a free article here on CAP every now n then, in trade for links from CAP members, and I have a submission service on http://www.webaffiliatecreators.com .. you don’t get as many ppl putting the articles up, but you obviously know some gambling sites minded folks are seeing them :)

I submitted my article on the 20th of September. I got an email saying that I should consult their editorial guidlines and change my article accordingly. Like a sucker I read their guidlines and can´t find anything. I wrote them an email asking them specifically what is wrong with my article because I can´t find anything reading the editorial guidlines. This is the shitty reply I got on the 22nd!!

    Hi,

This is the post for your interest:

As of this morning, we are no longer accepting articles on anything Casino or Gambling related and all articles have been removed in that category. This was a tough decision because of our desire to balance the needs of our authors & publishers vs. the needs of our advertisers.

In addition, we are no longer accepting articles with any variation on the “F” word due to complaints received. This only impacts a very small number of articles. We’re also working retroactive to help authors edit their articles if the F word was used or remove them all together if the message can’t be delivered right without the use of the F word. This F word decision was not one that we made lightly, but we knew it was one that had to be made to ensure the long-term success of the website.

What’s really interesting is that the greater majority of usage of the F-word were not relating to the act that it describes, but in the use of the word as a descriptor of intensity or from quoting a movie or song lyrics. In any case, it’s time has come and passed for our site and thanks for understanding.

They could have accepted my bloody article because I submitted it before their deadline. :cuss: :madat:
