Spelling Spanish or German is a lot easier than spelling English or French.

The more silent letters a language has, the harder it is to spell.

Japanese properly, as my Fiance is Japanese, as are most of the people I currently work with.

I can speak a bit, and read most Hiragana now.
Katakana is next on the list, as that’s really essential to being able to read the language to any useful level.

I can regognise Kanji for many banking and casino-related things.

I studied German in school and can speak and read it to a basic level.

Spot on the money. I think the hardest part about French is the spelling and the accents (of course once you learn you remember them easier).
The best part about Greek is that everything is spelt the way it sounds, and the only accent is the straight one (cant remember what its called) which just means in that word, that letter is the hardened sound.. not sure if that makes sense.. but the accent means the same thing no matter what letter its on.

If I was more intelligent I would love to learn spanish, but the bad thing about a bad memory is that it makes learning a language nearly impossible… too many words. But when you end up lost in Santa Domingo spanish would be helpful versus having to point to a page with an address. I love central america so it would be helpful for traveling.

I think I have finally decided to take Spanish – lots of people on here and friends say it’s quite easy to learn. And if it’s easier than French then I shouldn’t have too much to worry about :). I think having so much difficulty with French in grade school is what turned me off of learning another language for such a long time.
