InactiveNo one has been arrested, yet.
Moving across the border to Canada is one of many things I am considering.
And I know that Washington State suffers from cranial sphincterism (head up the ass syndrom), but that won’t comfort me when I’m sharring a cot in a 5 x 9 cell.
Part of me wants to run. part wants to fight. Maybe we need a martyr. Maybe this is where we make our stand and test the law. I dunno…
How long do we allow these phoney suns-of-bitches to parade out wrapped in the stars & stripes, pretending to know what’s best for us? How long do we let them boldly pass laws to benefit the rich and line their own pockets while cloaking themselves in their own perverted sense of morality? How long do we watch them errect their Ivory Towers build on a foundation of lies with the bodies of their vitims burried underneath? How long?
So do I explain to my daughter why daddy has to go to state prison for 10 years for building gaming websites while the very same activity goes on every night at the state and tribal casinos all around?
Or do I explain to my daughter why daddy lost their house, why she has to change schools, and why daddy has to leave her and go work at Wal-Mark for $10 an hour?
My government is a sick, discusting disgrace to the ideals my country was founded upon.

InactiveThis might be a stupid question, but why are the online gaming companies not getting involved and challenging the laws.
Surely it is in their best interest, I know most of my players are from the US. And if one state passes the law, then others might jump on the bandwagon.
The big gambling companies have more than enough money to challenge these laws in court, so why are they not? sleepy.gif

I suspect they’re working behind the scenes, lobbying – with that kind of money at stake i doubt anyone would just walk away from it.

InactiveI live across the border to the east from Integrity and I have been watching all of this very very carefully. (The Natives are planning on building another casino less than 10 miles from where I live.)
The Native Casino Tribes backed this ‘new’ law against online ‘gaming’ in Washington with millions in ‘donations’ and ‘favors’ to elected/non-elected officials. The Natives don’t want the competition from us and they have the money and the elected officials in their pockets.
I think once the general public in Washington state gets wind of this, the corrupt elected and non-elected official that were bought by the native casinos to push this dumb ass law through will be heading for cover, hopefully those corrupt officials will be headed to jail.
But it does look bad, very bad, in my opinion.
BTW – how are the Washington police going to enforce this law…. Are they going to start kicking in doors and checking what people are doing on their computers at random… or are they just going to expand the illegal warentless wire tapping…

InactiveI don’t mean this disrespectfully to Americans, but I sure am glad I don’t live over there. Its going full circle…all those years building up a free nation, then gradually eroding it away again. Something went seriously wrong somewhere IMO.
What gives anyone the right to force their morality beliefs on someone else?

The Christian Religion does. You can force anyone to do anything as long as it will save their soul…

I appreciate everyones support, but that is a skewed, untrue statement.
There is a very small… VERY SMALL… segment of the Christian community that has that kind of attitude. Unfortunately, those are the ones getting all the press time.
I am a Christian and go to church each Sunday. I pay tithe to the church from what is paid to me from online gambling. The pastor knows what I do for a living, too.
Level headed modern Christians are nothing like the idiots you see portrayed in movies or the evening news:
1) Gambling is not a sin, as stated by some “right wing” Christian groups. No where is the Bible does it say gambling is a sin. Instead, the Bible makes very reasonable statements warning not to let anything take over your life.
Which is worse: A Friday night poker game for $25? Or skipping church on Sunday morning to play golf for $25? It’s about priorities… most Christians fully see this.
2) I despise seeing “christians” on the news bombing abortion clinics… Those are people who love violence anyway and hide being our religion to do what they would be doing in someone elses name anyway.
3) I hate seeing “christians” protesting with signs that say “God hates Fags” and the sort… God hates NO ONE… God hates Sin, that’s it. If I witnessed a group of thes “christians” beating a homosexual I would stand shoulder to shoulder with that gay man and defend him even to my own death.
4) I wish it was as easy as saying “Christians are responsibe for this” so we could get them out of office, but do you know about Washington State? This law was put forth by a democratic state senator, and voted through alomost without a fight, in one of the most liberal states in the country.
So please, before you lump all people of one religion into one group, go ask 100 muslims if they want to fly planes into buildings and kill thousands of innocent people.

Inactivewhat a stupid direction this thread has taken…what the hell does a law about online gambling have to do with jews, christians, muslims?? NOTHING

InactiveYA HIT THE NAIL ON THE HEAD, Fuze…
This is why our industry is potentially doomed… NO ONE can stay focused!!!
This is why I feel like it’s up to me to do something… NO ONE else will!!!
I am contacting lawyers… I am phoning the ACLU and the IGC… I am talking to state senators, state rep’s, the mayor, and any politician who will listen… I am phoning newspapers, radio stations, and TV stations every day…
…NO ONE will do these things if I don’t.
I appreciate the “moral” support… really I do… but when June 7th gets here it’s my ass on the line.

InactiveDepending on what the lawyers think about this: http://www.leg.wa.gov/pub/billinfo/2005-06/Pdf/Bills/Session%20Law%202006/6613-S.SL.pdf
Broad, sweeping statements that I’m pretty sure a good attorney could drive a Mac truck through. But, on the side of caution, I’d say move first, and then fight it from a safe place. sneaky.gif
The online gambling industry has had so many warnings about the potential to lose the largest online gambling market in the world…
Good grief! How many billions of dollars is this industry worth, and yet the local reservations are buying more influence than us? :lookarounOne more thought about this, the Indian Reservations are wrong about thinking online gambling is a threat. What they should realize is online gambling is creating new customers for them, not taking them away.
