    Gary,

We met and chatted and I would like to think it was friendly.

I don’t think that Yvette and Sam deserve and blame here. I have spent time with both and they are truly awesome people.

Both of them were in the same situation as us, they didn’t know who was who so contacting people was difficult.

I am in NO WAY defending the CAP ownership and management – I feel they did a horrific job in both organizing this event and communicating things to affs, aff managers and operaters.

It may seem that Yvette and Sam were brought in at the last minute for damage control and perhaps this notion is correct, but they also made the best of a crappy situation so I consider them to be in the same “boat” that the rest of us are.

There have been a few posts where people have mentioned that CAP might do well by compensating attendees for the hotel costs. If it was my company I would do so.

Moving forward, if CAP wants to serve its members I would hope that they choose venues more suitable for the masses, not overpriced hotels, and have an ownership/management presence.

Yvette and Sam are great. The event was not.

CAP management and ownership should be ashamed, the people that attended should be honored for making the best of a shit situation.

    ixian – are you serious?

Gary may be blunt with his comments but he has contributed a lot of information to CAP without asking for anything in return.

If I may be blunt – screw you

    Hi Guys,

Please let’s not make a bad situation worse by getting personal. Thanks much. :hattip:

    Hi Gary

I have absolutely no idea what any of this is about, but it’s a real shame to see you go

You have, imo, been just about the best (most informative) poster on the boards over the past few months as well as an excellent speaker at the events I’ve been to.

Your contributions have helped my business

Will you be moderating / posting on any other forums, that I could follow?

    Cheers

    Gary,

Nothing was deleted unless a ghost swooped in and did it. What were you looking for?

And I certainly understand your frustration with Cancun. It doesn’t sound like it is what was expected at all. So yes, the organizers messed up amid all the confusion of late.

If you want to resign it will of course be honored, but I hope you will at least continue to be a part of the community. :hattip:

Gary your SEO advice is priceless…

    That’s a drag.

Most of the people I asked said it used to rock when it was in Miami and it was a big vacation for industry peers doing more notworking than networking. So the idea that it would go this way again won out. Yes there was some miss communication, and yes we should have done more. I say this speaking as the newly appointed marketing arm.

So that was what I thought this going to be, and well now we know better. Please keep in mind I’m the new guy here, on the job for only 26 days now.

    My Bad!

    That being said…

It’s also a drag that not having a good time at what was essentially billed as a party would set you off to make such a big professional leap?

Do you not get paying clients at these events?

    Really look at it?

It would be like me saying I’ll never speak at SES San Jose again because at Search Bash I paid for premium drinks.

Or like if I quit working with a new client just because the company had become un-popular in the last few months.

To the folks who want great SEO tips, don’t worry I got your back!

I’ve just got my friend and SEO rockstar Jason Duke on as a new SEO Mod. Other mod awesomeness to also follow. I also promise to spend more time helping with your SEO needs from here on out.

Don’t worry DOM I’m still working on that thing for you ;)

    In short,

Can’t we all just get along?

So I have tried to keep up with all of the news about the Cancun trip, and even though I probably don’t know the entire story, I have a pretty good idea.

My thoughts – I think this is all ridiculous, CAP having the largest affiliate network and being responsible for great advice from programs to SEO should swallow their pride and fix the issue any way possible. The online casino industry as a whole is under major scrutiny and for a community this large of affiliates to be acting this way is absurd. I guess most people that participate daily on these forums make so much damn money marketing casinos that it really doesnt matter who goes or stays. I mean it’s not going to affect YOUR MONEY. But what about everyone else that new, or maybe been here a year or so, that learn from reading all of these SEO posts for Gary. I guess screw them. I Mean this forum, I guess, for only the big boys in the industry anyway.

For CAP to not resolve the issue with Cancun and Gary would be another big mistake. Gary gives great advice and options and I’ll follow him to whatever other forum he might go.

Very Typical Behaviour lately : name calling, greed, not getting along with each other.

Think about people it is not all about the $$ GD !

If you can not get a positive feeling or make useful contributions to this industry which is a deep in trouble then you probably will not perform better with or without SEO.

Sorry, I think I assumed being affiliates you would have some recognition as to who Jason Duke is.

    Hope this helps

I know he may hate me posting this, but here is an awesome picture of Jason Duke with Danny Sullivan founder of SES, and SMX, and Brent Tabke founder of Webmasterworld, and Pubcon.

So please don’t take this as I went out and got my “friend” to replace Gary.

I went out and found one of the leading search marketing experts in the world to add to the conversation on CAP and PAP. Jason and I both want to supply affiliates with really awesome, easy to understand, real world changes they can make to their website and rank and convert better.

So, until Gary gets mentioned in Forbes, or interviewed by the BBC you should really be thankful I was able to get the Jason Duke to come here and give his tips away for free. If Gary’s ideas worth money, Jason’s are worth Gold!

And, yes Jason happens to be my friend, and I am proud to say I call him a friend.

    Faced with the choice:

    1) Guy with great SEO skills, poor people skills

    OR

    2) Guy with great SEO skills, good people skills

Then #2 is the one I prefer to learn from and interact with.

I never heard of him till I googled. Not saying I had never seen him around or anything, but too many people every year to talk to…

There are hundred of GOOD SEO Guy and gals out there. I would also hire a friend if he was good for the job, all good here
