I’ll never be to busy to chew the fat with you on the phone, Steve. LOL
May 22, 2005 at 9:39 pm #665920AnonymousInactiveCongrats Randy!! There is no doubt you have what it takes to do this full-time. From the phone conversations and emails you and I have exchanged, I have already learned a great deal from you. The online gaming commubity needs more individuals like yourself.
May 23, 2005 at 1:18 am #665922AnonymousInactiveI second what Poker Star said. We need more individuals like Randy. Along with many of the other veterans here putting up with rookies like me and our stupid questions and helping us, there aren’t enough thank you’s available.

…umm…
Congratulations Randy. What I said above, except that you are now your own employer

Firstly, setting yourself targets (maybe monthly) can really help as after a while you can easily get side-tracked and lose focus.
Secondly, always keep an eye on the future – the online world changes fast and you need to keep some sort of security/pension/rainy day fund going – particularly as in the affiliate business you are largely dependent on other peoples decisions. You never know what legislation/changes are around the corner. I’ve worked for myself in three businesses and each has gone sharply upwards at some stage only to be tempered suddenly by market forces outside of my control. And those businesses are in what you would probably call much “safer” areas than affiliate marketing. My advice would be to live life using only 50% max. of what you make so you have some leverage in harder times.
Little things like Visa stopping online casino transactions could in theory really have a dramatic effect on a business and you need to be ready for those sorts of things.
That all said, its been totally great so good luck.
Cheers,
Simmo!
PS. Oh and bear in mind, once you have the taste of this life, you never want to go back
