angelbe1MemberWow, is that right Rak? Do you know where I can find further info on that? I tried the FB Guidelines but don’t seem to see that. Thanks!

InactiveI tested the waters and found it worth the effort. I’m in the process of re-engineering most of my sites around the social networks.
I think it is mandatory to at least have social network call to action buttons on any type of content site. I use AddThis – Share Button, Social Bookmark, Sharing Plugins and Analytics which does provide some basic metrics. But intuition tells me that individual call to action buttons are even better. Addthis was originally geared toward social bookmarking but I find 75% of it’s usage is facebook and surprisingly many people use the email feature.
The beauty of the social networking marketing phenomena is that is forcing us to focus on what we should have been focused on in the first place – services and content that people actually want and can use.

Just thought I’d revive this year-old thread, as I’m thinking a lot about integrating social networking into my site, in a way that makes sense.
There’s a few people on Facebook and Twitter who have massive followings, who no doubt are doing well driving traffic to their respective sites.
At the moment, I’m just concentrating on developing good content, and hopefully the traffic, the +1s, Likes and Stumbles will just come as and when…
Are any of you particularly successful using social networking tools to drive visitors to your sites? Is it worth the effort?

InactiveI tried advertising on facebook with some non-gambling ventures some time ago. I didn’t get the returns I was looking for but it was a terrible cpm model back then.
I find it really disconcerting that the facebook ads seem to be influenced by the topics of emails I send and receive in gmail.

Has anyone played with advertising on FB?
Rak did anything ever come of your research? Did you ever start promoting on your account? There’s a fine line of pushing a link from time to time and then just plain spamming your friends and family.
Perhaps a fan page of some sort directing them to your site or displaying offers on your sites would be good.

Jill, I haven’t done any FB advertising but have been reading up on it and doing some research. There are some great advantages to it, but yeah, it could kick your butt fast if you don’t watch over it. I’ll definitely do some dabbling in it soon, but what I’d like to know is if anyone has found a way to push some gambling products. I mean FB has 2 really strict rules, no ‘xxx’ content and no gambling. I’ve heard of people finding ways around it but no one is really sharing how. I’d love to hear any feedback on that or just general FB advertising for affiliates as well.
Hey Duma:
There are some ways for FB Advertising in our niche… Check out the updates that have occurred in the past few months (here’s article that lays it out pretty well):

InactiveI did a business page for my retail site a few weeks and have been playing with some ads.
I was going to start one for my gambling site but read that gambling was prohibited. -
