I just want to reiterate I am thrilled that Doyles Room has decided to return to the US. Wether you agree with how they left or not their return is a very positive development for our industry and gives US players and affiliates more choices of where to play and do business.

There will be other programs that re-enter the US and I think we should applaud their courage and thank them for coming back. When casinos and poker rooms start to return lets not make them regret the decision.

    I agree 100%.

Doyle’s Room returning to the U.S. market is fantastic news. I would love to see some other operators return to the U.S. market as well.

Wonder if Titan (Playtech) would return?

It will start a pathway for others to return. I agree most of the exedus was a knee jerk reaction. Should have never went down that way. Now all we need is for a few processors to return and we should be in shape.

The news about the return is indeed fantastic. How they left and raketherake whining about it is a whole different story.

    Hi all,

Karim, I know you have it because we have discussed this issue on several occasions.

    Discussed it?
Hmmm…..you said that you had sent emails out to all affiliates advising them of the impending change and sell out to FT, yet myself and 4 other affiliates could find no such email…

You know what George, i had typed out a long answer which outlined (in my opinion) all the crap that went on…but i’ve hit the delete button….
Reason being i am a fair man and what’s the point in being bitter…?
The Prof and others are all correct. You guys are back in the USA – super.
Like everybody, we welcome and appreciate all returnees…it can only be positive for the future of the business.

So i think that since i have deleted all my rant, you should take this opportunity to openly post an explanation as to what went wrong when you dropped out? Why the decision was taken not to inform affiliates of the move to FT when FT offered you the opportunity to track players through you and your affiliates?

This would be a fantastic gesture on the part of DBPN and would certainly clear the air for all parties to get back in to bed together

    Kind regards

    Hi Karim,

Sorry for the delay answering your concerns, after Barcelona I had some minor surgeries that kept me away for a bit. Now, I would like to address this subject.

To be honest, I don’t feel that following numerous emails and phone calls between us I need to justify our actions further. However I am going to post up on this for the sake of a quiet life and for the benefit of other affiliates who might be reading.

The decision to leave the US was not taken lightly by DoylesRoom.com. If you cast your mind back to late 2006 you’ll remember that the industry was in a mess, processors were dropping like flies and the risk of arrest seemed very real. Legal advice received by the company strongly suggested a withdrawal as the only course of action.

Our plan was to withdraw from the US in an orderly fashion. But then the wild card came. Tribeca Tables, acting on legal advice of their own gave us a very short period of notice that they were closing their network to US players. In that time we had to inform all of our players and affiliates and find a way of settling all the player deposits. We had two choices:

    1. Cut all our players off cold and pay them back their deposits (a monumental task given the size of the database and the lack of processing capability at that time). This would have taken a very long time and distracted us from our objective at the time which was to re-focus on Europe.

    2. Do a deal with another US facing poker room whereby they would take over our players and their balances and we could pay across the cash for their balances in one lump sum rather than tens of thousands of small checks and e–passporte transfers.

We chose option 2 on the basis that it saved us the administrative burden of paying back all of our players individually AND it was good for the players in that it gave them somewhere else to play and preserved their loyalty points. FT stepped up to the plate and helped us out big time when we were not in a good place. The deal was about helping our players and allowing DBPN to move on. We have not received a cent from FT. If you have evidence that we have, Karim, then email it to me I’d love to see it.

Ultimately Karim, I doubt you’ll ever be convinced and you will always believe in some kind of conspiracy theory. As for DBPN, we just want to move on and get growing. If you choose to be part of that, that’s fine. If you choose not, that’s also fine.

George thanks for the reply. I am sure everyone will join me in wishing you a speedy recovery

While I am sure all the US players appreciate the efforts DBPN went to enable them to keep playing, you are suggesting that it was as an act of charity? Okayyyyyy then……

As you may appreciate, I cannot possibly reveal any sources I have regarding the suggestion that DBPN (and or a subsidiary) benefitted effectively as an affiliate from any new account at Full Tilt.

Readers will have to decide for themselves whether or not DBPN just handed over their entire US database for free :shhh:

The decision by Tribeca was not overnight and there was plenty of time to alert your affiliates to what was happening. If you weren’t really going to benefit financially from the transaction then why would you not contact the affiliates?
It would have been easy to advise your affiliates that they could contact their players with information about FT etc
There were actually 9 days between the day (19th Feb) you advised players about the impending changes and the date they would no longer be able to play on DBPN (1st March)
You clearly had time to contact the affiliates.

    Quote:
I personally called and spoke with most of you and informed you about us withdrawing from the US market and where the players were going. I also informed you that I was going to talk to the affiliate department of FTP and try to get more information for you all. As we all expected, each of the affiliates must contact FTP and set individually your own accounts and unfortunately, those players that transferred their funds to FTP directly from DR, would not be tracked to each of you, unless FTP agrees to it, which I personally doubt.

The fact is that you never called one of us (well at least 6 of the biggest affiliates in contact with me/you through our emails at the time) and nor did you send an email to any of this effect to the affiliates.

Clearly this is never going to be agreement between DBPN and the affiliates on this – I don’t think it’s a conspiracy on your part. I am just basing my opinions on the facts. And from the threads and posts I can find on the subject it seems the majority (not all) affiliates believe that you guys did not act in good faith.

I would be more than happy to promote DBPN again when you guys want me to…just drop me a line and let’s see if we can resolve the differences

    Best wishes

Are there any US affiliates in here that are successfully using ePassporte in conjunction with Doyles Room, since Doyles re-entered the U.S. Market ?

2nd Question: Are there any US affiliates in the one of the 11 off-limit states (like NY) that are successfully using ePassporte in conjunction with Doyles Room, since Doyles re-entered the U.S. market ?
