InactiveIt’s the personal touch that makes the difference.
The industry can’t be so hard up that they can’t afford to send a post card.
Perhaps US affiliates aren’t considered worth the investment under the current political circumstances.
That is faulty thinking, the internet is global and affiliates who do well in one country can do just as well in another.
Anyway, thanks to those programs who remembered their affiliates and reached out to touch us. :hattip:

.Agree with the first point – but a personal mail is appreciated as much as a card.

I don’t think it’s US affiliates Dom – I haven’t seen anything this year.
But basically I don’t really expect anything (or want it) and to see people railing and complaining against not getting something is a little bit weird to me.
Look it’s a business – and they’re paying significant commissions – and I appreciate that. Thank you very much for your business relationship.
Related subject. We did get a delicious hamper basket unexpectedly in mid-year. I was a tasty surprise and we thanked the AM directly via email.
Unfortunately (as I expected) the basket then came with a hard push to give the program more exposure, higher placements and better reviews.
The AM had read “hard ball selling 101” was trying to leverage off the $200 gift to get thousands of dollars worth of exposure – almost but not quite stating “look we sent you a food parcel” …
:sarcasm:My relationship with the program is now at a low ebb – because they did not understand why I said No.
And it’s THAT experience that makes me say – send an email or card by all means – but sending anything bigger is suspisciously like trying to attach strings.

Exactly, people that omplain because they didnt get as much as X or programs that expect somthing in return are all bad, its all about a tiny reward to make people happy if they performed well for a said program. I didnt get a lot of things other didnt but hell how can you complain about a free gift?
just take these for what they are and have fun!!

This is true for me too. I got a few invitations to some vacation trips but turned them down. I might be paranoid but I don´t want to get me in a situation where I´m told that I have to give something back in case of better spots and nicer reviews because I got a larger gift or something like that. This would destroy the reason I got involved in this busines in the first place. I want to have 100% control over my websites.

InactiveWe were treated to a train trip on Rovos Rail and dinner by Piggs Peak South Africa and got a lovely framed photo at the end and a huge hamper. ( They tend to spoil us all year though …but we are also big players there so that may be it )
Cpays sent a lovely desk set of ornaments and a T shirt
There may be a few more but I haven’t been to the Postbox since the first week of December !!
Lots of E Greetings too which was nice but it still doesn’t beat the old fashioned Christmas card

InactiveThanks!
To be quite honest, we looked around for gift packages to send and just decided that our budget could be better spent than on imported cookies and chocolates and such – there are sooooo many people who really NEED the money….
Have a safe New Year’s Eve and a fabulous 2008!
Later,
Marcia -
