thepaidplayerMemberI agree, since posting on both CAP and PAP i found a lot more affiliates have joined with us, but the last week during CAP I was truely amazed by how many people said to me they like my posts and they felt i was very active in the forums, which is good to know, what people should remeber is that a lot more people just read post rather than posting a reply.

InactiveGreat thread Dom!
While i’m probably not saying anything new, but there needs to be a way to separate the good veteran programs from the new/unproven programs. Perhaps you can have the “certified” criteria for the elite programs, and just a “listing” for the companies still fresh off the boat. This goes in line with what Stupid said, that there are just way too many programs and they definitely are not of equal value to both affiliates and players.
While I don’t think that the wording of certification vs sponsorship make any difference that would make me sleep better at night, there should be more involvement with programs in the certification process. Perhaps companies would be expected to put up collateral in case something happens, and their fund will be used to pay affiliates. There need to be some guarantees if a program is trully certified, otherwise it’s just throwing words around. Programs should be able to prove themselves over time, and not just buy-in to the listings.
This might go in line with CAP’s business model, where they can still charge everyone for basic listings (which technically don’t mean much for the programs integrity, but do give them the additional communication channel to find affiliates), but only give a premium seal or whatever you call it to companies that have proven themselves. What this will mean is that all programs who pay will be listed, but only those who are “reputable” will make it to the next stage (for free!).

InactiveOk, CAP admin is going to extract all the ideas from the thread this week and start getting with someone to draw up a new system after that. It will take a bit of time since they also need feedback from the programs, but this one is on the road now.
I will leave the thread stuck for now and you can still add to it anytime you like.
Watch for more open discussions!

vladcizsolMemberI wish I knew why this series of discussions on CAP have occured while I am on “vacation.” I appreciate the input, but the timining is a bit bizzare. I wasnt consulted in the least bit. CAP is my baby and I never expected a refocusing to occur while I was resting a little and attending to my mother who has cancer. (I know I haven’t stated that before now but its an issue that is waying heavily on our family now and I wished to keep it private) I love CAP and once I get everything back in working order in my life I would like to come back to the same CAP I always knew and loved and watched grow to size it is now. Let’s keep things in complete prospective.
1. We just came off our largest show ever in London with over 1600 attenndees.
2. Cancun will be a huge event as CAP Springbreak’s Go and probably our largest ever.
3. Amsterdam will brak all records for an affiliate event of any kind.
4. CAP TV was laucnhed and is growing rapidly in quality, content and viewership.
5. MyCAP was another one of my initiatives which is a great social network that allows our members a secure enviroment to further develop relationships.
6. We are scheduling more CAP regionals in 2009 including Sydney so that more affiliates have access to conferences and events.
7 CAP Magazine is expanding each issue and will hopefully go monthly in 2009.
8. Our membership[ has broken 8100 and is racing towards the magic ten thousand.Have there been a few bumps in the road? Are there controverisal posts on other boards? Yes, we arent perfect but we do our best each and everday to bring you the best. That includes me. I have worked from basically 7:00am – 11:00 pm every day for all these years and I dont think my leadership has been a detriment to CAP in the least bit.
I was in London and I realized just how much CAP means to the industry and to me and I will be damned If I will be run off from what I loved, own and created along with all our members and team. I had hoped for some more time off until my mother gets through surgery, but If I cant have that brief rest withought losing CAP then I guess my hiatus will have to end immediately.
Guys I love CAP and I love what we are going to do in 2009. We had several long meetings with GPWA in London and they agreed to work positively with us moving forward. Based on all that I am rescinding any plans to step away. I wil be in and out as medical visits come up, but I am here to stay.

vladcizsolMemberI was unaware of those discussions. He is forwarding them to me for full review. All the same I am not dead Dom and I would have wished you talked with me. Water under the bridge.
All suggestions will be taken into consideration and the onces which improve the certification process will be implemented and the authors will receive a special CAP Money award for their help.
