InactiveNo guidelines, you vote for who seems the best to you.
Personally I voted for whoever I thought contributed the most to the community over time and had ethics I like. I figured it was a way to say thanks.

ProjectPat1MemberDear All
I am absolutely HORRFIED to see that CAP approve of a scraper so much that you have included him in your ‘best of vote’.
I’m talking about OnlineBingo Club as ‘Best Bingo Affiliate’.
Take a look at the site of Online Bingo Club (xhttp://www.onlinebingoclub.co.uk/) then take a look at our site Bingo VIP Club (http://www.bingovipclub.com).
This guy completely ripped off our concept (weekly mail outs, monthyl prize draw) in a ‘club’ format, and even had the cheek to copy, although slightly re-worded, all our content.
Look at the FAQs page. Look at the layout (where is the sign up box?)
I know our idea isn’t unique or ground-breaking, but he lifted it from us.
FFS, I’ve even got an email from Robert ADMITTING he stole the idea from us. But he refuses to chnage his scraped site.
PLEASE REMOVE THIS SCRAPER FROM YOUR VOTE IMMEDIATELY. IT DOES NOTHING FOR THE CREDIBILITY OF YOUR AWARDS. NOR DOES IT HELP THOSE FIGHTING AGAINST THE SCRAPERS.

InactiveHi Bingo VIP Club, I don’t know enough about this to comment but will look into it and discuss it with the guys at CAP central.

I think stealing an idea is slightly different to content scraping, Yes I sent you an email when I made the site back in Feburary to say I stole your idea.
Copying someones idea was not an offence I thought.

Was that to me Dom?
Are you saying that an idea for a website is Intellectual Property?
If I started my own Gambling Affiliate Forum, would I be stealing the idea from CAP?
I understand where that guy is coming from, yes I did copy his idea of starting an Online Bingo Club and sending out newsletters and having monthly prizes etc.
And yes I also laid out my FAQ’s page similar to his (and like most other FAQ pages), but surely this isn’t a crime, politicians do it everyday stealing each others policies and ideas.

I am not a lawyer and have no idea if and how it applies…when my site gets copied etc I ask my lawyer.

InactiveI am going to let the Prof make the call on this one – I see both sides of the argument but I tend to think this is more a case of someone trying to patent “taking money through betting online” (i.e. like the bodog situation) rather than actually blatent scraping.
Prof….Help….

InactiveI only today noticed that I’ve been nominated for a couple of things. Thanks so much to those of you who thought enough of me to nominate me for these awards. I’m indeed flattered. :hattip:

They cant, once you have voted thats it. As far as I can tell it logs your IP meaning no more votes once you cast your first vote.
