InactiveMaybe it’s just me, but I think it’s totally laughable and outrageous that a rake back affiliate is nominated as the “Best Poker Affiliate”.
I guess the players (because of the rake back) and the poker rooms (because they don’t have to pay the bonuses themselves) are happy, but I don’t think the “old school affiliates” who lost their players and commission are happy?
Is it a joke?

vladcizsolMemberThe CAP Awards Nominations were open for nearly three months. We begged everyone REPEATEDLY to nominate the people and programs they thought most deserved an award for each category. We did NOT list ANYTHING or ANYONE it was ALL done by nomination. You had the opportunity to send in your nominations and to actively lobby for votes for whomever you wanted to see win.
Alex and I repeatedly asked that everyone take an active role in the whole process. The reason being we want the CAP Awards to be a true refelection of who people in our industry thought most deserved an award.
Its important to note:
1. You cant BUY a CAP Award. This is NOT an ad sale.
2. At CAP we didnt lobby for programs or people. We DID NOTHING to determine these final nominations other then tally the votes that were submitted.
3. I was surprised by a lot of the finalists and even more surprised by who WASNT there. But thats the way an open poll works. People who DID care enough to send in votes have their choices appear as finalists and quite frankly that’s as it should be.
4. If you arent happy with a particular finalist then DONT VOTE FOR THEM. Choose someone you do like. You are also welcome to lobby for your choice at your site, communities or via your newsletters.
After all the work we put into this I really dont appreciate the charge that one of the awards is a joke. It’s a reflection of the votes we received. NEXT YEAR please make it a point to ensure YOUR choices receive the most nominations for each category. Thats the fair and democratic way to do things.

InactiveEveryone listed there was voted there by YOU, or got there because you didn’t vote. If you don’t like what you see, you can still vote.
Vote however you may feel about it, just vote! This is no different from any other election, the majority of votes wins, so make your opinion count.
BTW if you didn’t vote the first time because you didn’t like giving your personal info, you don’t need to do it this time, so no excuses!

Sorry, but I didn’t see those e-mails or threads. My fault.
Well, now I beg people not to vote for the rake back affiliate. If and when he wins, it will send and very strong (and wrong!) signal. If you want to earn 25-40% revenue share, and not 5-10% you don’t want this guy to win.
The poker affiliate industry is already fu**ed up. Let’s not bury it completly by honoring dirty tricks and theft.
:bullshit:

Sorry Professor, but I really thought it was a joke. Didn’t think it would be possible…. :tooconfus

vladcizsolMemberGuys hold the presses and stop voting!
We are in the process of beating the shit out of our programmers as they made a mistake and used the nominationation leaders from July and NOT the actual finalists!!!!
Once we have that corrected we will reset all votes and ask everyone to come to the polls again.
The finalists you see now WILL change. I cant appologize enough for this snafu.

cobstersliceMemberThe voting software should have been test (QA) previously. However, not harm done. Shit happens

FoolMemberCan someone confirm that the nominations up now online are correct? Does this also mean the nominations in the magazine are incorrect?
Thanks,
BookieAlerts

InactiveCall me stupid, but I still don’t get the criteria to vote – I get the casino aff programs, but what does “best casino affiliate” means? Most posts, most helpfull, most casino players? Is s/he the best from the casino point of view (bringing most player) or the best from other affiliates point of view (the one who competes less with you)?
And if you consider that the sports betting forum, little as it was, has been dead for a while, how do you vote for the best sports betting affiliate?
Also, take for example the “Best Sportsbetting Affiliate” and OddsChecker.com – I did not know that oddschecker.com was a cap member. I found one nick “oddschecker” with Join Date: 04-25-2005 and total posts: 2, so what am I basing my voting on? If the website is pretty? I understand that those names were submitted by other members, but some kind of guideline would have been nice.
October 9, 2007 at 10:14 pm #750944
vladcizsolMemberThe criteria was simple and straight forward.
1. We presented a number of categories in which nominations were being accepted from persons within our industry.
2. We publicized this at CAP, via our newsletters and via CAP Magazine.
3. We allowed nominations to be sent in for several months and encouraged everyone to join in on the process.
4. The CAP awards are a reflection of what you guys submitted. We did not suggest anyone or any programs or try to influence the votes.
5 Once all the nominations were received and counted we announced the finalists and asked that people submit a final vote for those that won a spot in their respective categories.
6. Unlike EVERY other ‘award’ that was out there CAP Awards arent for sale. This isnt an ad campaign. We dont sell the category to highest bidder.
7. Call US stupid but we wanted awards that honestly reflected the oppinions of affiliates and affiliate managers within the industry.
8. We cant FORCE people to vote. We cant force people to participate. If you are unhappy with the final nominees then by all means PLEASE TAKE AN ACTIVE ROLE in next years awards so that your choices are represented. We would really appreciate that and it will make the awards that much more meaningful.

InactiveSee, I knew how the nominees got to the list.
What I don’t understand is the criteria we use to vote, i.e. what exactly makes a sportsbetting/casino affiliate “best”? I have not questioned how the nominees got there, nor have I ever said I was unhappy with any of them. I just don’t know what makes an affiliate “best”. I gave an example with oddschecker.com beacuse I have visited this forum for years and I have never run across anyone from oddschecker. I’m not saying they are bad guys, I just don’t know if they are “better” than the Gooner.
1. We presented a number of categories in which nominations were being accepted from persons within our industry.
What exactly did you have in mind when you guys created the category “best casino affiliate” and ‘best sportsbetting affiliate”?

You don’t need guidelines mate …
