The thread was closed at 1:06pm and your last post was made at 1:08pm. Maybe you were writing your last post at the same time I was closing the thread.

Moderators on discussion boards do close and reopen threads. It’s part of the job, just like encouraging thoughtful discussion and sharing of opinions.

And not that it matters, but I spoke with Lou about closing the thread, and he had no problem with my decision to close it.

Thank you Antoine. :) I do believe that all points have long been made and it’s time to move on.

Must be, happens a lot in active threads. I also get distracted here a lot and sometimes start a post and walk away and take care of something else and come back and finish it 5 minutes later, or the phone rings and I have to stop writing. I don’t remember if that is what happend or not.

But I do know that I have never closed or reopened a thread. I discuss such things with the professor if I see something that appears to matter. I am aware that as mods we have the power to do so, I just choose to leave it up to admin.

Guys I asked that any personality conflicts be settled down here in the free for all area. Lets keep the business areas reserved for business discussions.

I “repaired” the thread in the main forum and reopened it. Its a valuable discussion so it can continue. Please stay on topic up there and NO personal sniping. Everyone is welcome to beat the shit out of each other down here in the free for all area.

Classics adds a lot to CAP. He has great information for those of us who are interested in achieving legitimate SEO results. He’s always willing to answer any questions we have regarding SEO, search engines and the like – and he tells it like it is.

I credit him with putting me back on the path I originally started on – concentrating on content, honest linking and so on. I have a long way to go, but I owe a lot to Classics and his straight forward approach to this industry and SEO.

Personal feelings have no place whatsoever here – if you don’t like someone keep it to yourself. Classics is a valuable member of this community, and I won’t tolerate his being attacked here.

Take a look at his posts about Dom Fergie and tell me how you would feel if he posted that shit about you? He’s hardly without fault here.

    Look at these little gems:

“One more time, this is not the GPWA. This is not a place for you to behave like an immature child. Either act professionally or don’t, but I am not going to waste my time getting into one of your legendary flamefests that you are so famous for.”

    or

“Your job is not to be a trolling busybody insulting people engaged in a thread with sharply confliciting opinions.

The fact that this is an ongoing pattern in your life is something you should reflect on.”

or here is what he posted that Dom edited:

” I know your experience with the GPWA was all about flaming and insulting and this personal nonsense you seem to love, but you need to grow up now.”

How would YOU feel if these little nuggets were directed at you?

Yes Classics does contribute to the board, thats why we take his unique posting style into consideration. But being a good poster doesnt give someone the right to insult or belittle others.

As far as I could see all Dom said was two people were insulting each other and then this whole thing blew up. She didnt attack Classics. She was trying to moderate the thread.

C hasn’t ever done me anything but right.

I too like his straightforwardness. something I can respect because I always would prefer to know where I stand with someone, than to not.

since I haven’t read what went on I am not taking sides, just wanted to give my 2cents that I have never thought that C was anything but …. classy.

And IMHO it would be a great loss to the community if we were to lose him under almost any circumstances I can think of; so I’m basically in total agreement with what Fergie said in that respect.

    :)

She trolled an attack on me in her “hey look at me” way, and I reponded by simply telling her to behave. She responded by go on and on, derailing the thread and aiming attention at herself like she does *all the time*, both here and previously.

I’ve bent over backwards in the past, but I have previously told other moderators here that I have zero interest in this ridiculous flame style that she carried over from GPWA. I’m interested in dealing with issues, and only issues, but I’m not going to let rude, hijacking behavior go on when it involves something I’m involved in.

The comments Professor quoted were after six insulting comments from her that were not just uncalled for, they were just plain weird. But I couldn’t care less about her need to have attention focused on her, and I certainly don’t want to waste my time with goofball nonsense like this.

I make a lot of money in this business, and part of the reason is because giving back to people is something that ends up benefiting me. At the same time, I know I’d do even better in this business if there were more professional, successful people doing what I do. Essentially, if there was a trade group of portal types, we’d get a better share of the money being made in this business.

CAP is a pretty good pace for people with experience to talk along with newbies, and this includes spammers and non-spammers, and every other niche in the portal side of things. But it will never get anywhere (toward the improve-portals-role-in-the-industry goal I personally have) as long as this childish and immature flaming goes on, from a moderator no less.

Dominique flames everywhere she goes. Look at thread after thread here where there is any controversy, and her “hey look at me” posts appear. This is sad, but I’m not in this business to be nice to people sabotaging the best interests of me and others here who would like to do well in this business.

Perhaps I expect to much in wanting a mature, business-like attitude, which includes a lot of controversy in this controversial business where there are many sharp issues, but I’m sure going to pass up the chance to be involved in someone’s pattern of immature behavior.

Like I said previously lets keep the upper areas business discussions and keep this sort of stuff down here. Lets all move ahead and put this one behind us I dont see any easy resolutions.

You are correct – but then again seldom is anything ever “easy” in life. I am confident that the majority of people agree with my earlier synopsis of the situation. I am convinced not only because of my take on the situation, but of that of my fellow colleagues. In this instance, and to my recollection others, I believe things couldn’t be more obvious. Truth is truth and sometimes is just difficult to face.

Too often I have seen things go awry only to seemingly have everyone turn their backs as though nothing had happened. With all due respect there comes a time when certain items need to be addressed in a professional and when need be sternly manner.

I would like to see everyone get along in 2005 and have always shared classics goal to better the community that we all participate so vigorously in. Rest assured there is only one constant in this world and that is change.

Wishing everyone a happy new year :drink:

Obviously I wouldn’t like it if someone said things like that to me or about me. But it sure would make me wonder what I said or did that would cause someone to feel this way towards me, and do something positive in order to improve our interractions.

It’s pointless for me to argue or deny statements as presented in the format quoted above. I could take a handful of quotes from almost anybody on the board, present them naked and without context before us and paint the author as a villian. :nono:

I think both posters got carried away and made the discussion personal. I enjoy reading posts by both Dominique and Classics. They are both knowledgable and add quite a bit to this forum. However, I do wonder what the past had to do with the present? Somewhere, somehow the whole subject did go way off track and became a drama rather than a documentary. I respect both parties for having the guts to say what they feel rather than what they feel others want to read. But you can’t reprimand one and praise the other.
