InactiveLocking it and editing posts did not seem appropriate to me. I did not see Classics post (un-edited)
It just makes the board feel… uh, censored.

InactiveIf Classics and Dominique want to hash things out, they should do it in a thread in the free for all area. If someone wants to open a new thread to continue the discussion of blog spam, then I’m all for it, but that thread was way off track and wasn’t going to be righted anytime soon.

InactiveThere will be no hashing out.
The rules of behavior are clear and they will be enforced.
There will be no flame, and I will not be attacked for doing my job.

InactiveAs per your request, Randy, this thread is now in free for all.

InactiveI will not tolerate Dominique flaming and me (or anyone else). That edited post is another example of her out of control behavior.
I expect all my posts in that thread to be completely deleted now, and not edited by an insult hurling flamer.

GuestI found nothing wrong at all with Classic’s posts.
It seems clear to me that he was picked on quite deliberately.
The discussion was interesting, had some good information, and now the whole thread is closed.
I, for one, am very pissed off, and sick of this sort of thing constantly occuring at CAP whenever Dominique gets on one of her tangents.

InactiveWe were hoping to save the post, which had deteriorated into the throwing of insults. Randy closed it. The topic is lost now – which is a real shame.

InactiveThis is a “discussion” board, and people need to feel free to “discuss” things here. I don’t feel like Classics’s posts were over the line either. This is clearly not as black and white an issue as you’re trying to make it out to be, Dominique.

InactiveWe reach your SIXTH insult, and you never even posted one example of something inappropriate I posted. That isn’t your way.
One more time, this is not the GPWA. This is not a place for you to behave like an immature child. Either act professionally or don’t, but I am not going to waste my time getting into one of your legendary flamefests that you are so famous for.
Ideas are ideas. People are people. Someone hopelessly self-absorbed would not be able to differentiate the two, and perhaps that is your problem here, but I don’t care what the reason is at this point.
Your job is not to be a trolling busybody insulting people engaged in a thread with sharply confliciting opinions.
The fact that this is an ongoing pattern in your life is something you should reflect on.
“which is a real shame.”
And it is 100% your fault, which again you should reflect on. A valuable if contentious discussion was lost because you decided to throw insults around. If you don’t reflect on that, more the pity.

InactiveThe topic is not lost. Unlock that particular thread if you’d like to, or ask Lou to. Or start another thread on the topic.
If you want to continue to chastise Classics for “flaming”, then maybe you could do it in private or in another thread rather than derailing a useful discussion.

InactiveI honestly didn’t see anything inflammatory about Classics post – sorry but I didn’t! Furthermore, going in and editing other members post reeks of that “other person” and shouldn’t be part of any procedural duties here at CAP.
Randy upheld his duties as moderator and closed the thread when he discovered that it was going south. For that I applaud him, but then surprisingly Dominique took it upon herself to trump Randy and reopen the thread just so she could get in the last word – again that sounds a lot like someone else!
I believe Classics usually if not always post in what some consider an aggressive tone, however those of us that know – understand it’s more of an authoritative tone. I don’t think he has anything to gain by demeaning anyone here – in fact none of us do! I personally enjoy his straight forward – tell it like it is demeanor – if for no other reason it resembles my own

Dominique I can’t speak for everyone, but I think you really need to take a vacation. I don’t want to see this place turn into a controlled oligarchy where anything and everything you say has to meet the approval of a few – that’s no way to accomplish anything!
Take a break – if you dont need it from us – we may need it from you!

InactiveThe professor spoke to Steve in private to no avail. I have been asked to do my job and stop the insults. That is what I am going to do. I am leaving some standing as long as they only target me, so everyone can see them.

InactiveEveryone smile and pretend nothing happened and move on! This is a forum and no reason is good enough to get upset.
