It’s their site and they can link to whoever they wish. If you send a player there they are not going to realise that there is even a link at the bottom of the page.

There is nothing wrong with it, but it does seem a bit desperate. Do they have to sell links to make money or is it to get an affiliate to send them some players?

Imo it is fine as long as the link goes to a useful website. Now… anyone may judge if this particular website is useful or not. :1circling

lol thanks for your thoughts. It is true they own it and can do what they wish. I will now be removing All star from my lists. I will not link to something like that even with nofollow that leads to another affiliates page. *Bye bye bad deal*

This has been going on for years and probably they know their link makes that website even stronger thus converting more players to them.I don’t think too much exit traffic is going there as it is almost buried. It is a dangerous thing for a program to do though as they can upset other affiliates in the process.

I am going to give All Star 24 hours from this post to remove said link. I figure lets play fair right? Affiliate Edge feel free to post here or let me know otherwise so you may keep your casino up. Since I cant delete my nice review of All Star because deindexing is bad as it would effect by Es-e-Cheerios. I will just remove the link from the post and say All Star is under investigation for unfair practices to affiliates. (true read above)

Its there website, who are you to tell them what links they should have up. Maybe that guy send them a lot of traffic and its a good deal for both of them..

If you dont like the way a program operates, or what they do or link to, then pull there links, no one forces you to promote anyone.

You are right Lenny and when I re-read what I wrote it sounds angry. I am not, I want to give them the option in all fairness. They have earned my respect as a company so I am surprised yes. Simply pulling the link and not saying why is also not fair to my viewers. They deserve to know why all stars link is gone.

That guy might be sending them 1000 players a month, and maybe his request is a link?

I was earning decent with them for the last year+, then starting in dec things completely tanked. not sure wtf happened.

as far as the link is concerned, it matters now as they changed the cookie from first to last affiliate recently, so when the player clicks your All Star aff. link and happens to head over to that other affiliates’ site, then clicks an All Star aff link they’d get the sale, whereas b4 it was the first affiliate so it would not have mattered.

Now I wonder if the link exchange and the cookie change are related?

A link to that site was part of the deal made with that affiliate and AE is not allowed to remove it.

Most of us know who that links to and not surprised that link is on there. I doubt he’s getting exit traffic from it, it’s just for SEO purposes. No biggie for me.

Check out the really nice dofollow footer link at Online Slots & Casino – All Star Slots – 100% Bonus up to $787 that leads to ANOTHER AFFILIATES WEBSITE. Really you are linking out dofollow sitemap looking links? Affiliate Edge, you are stealing my traffic directing to another affiliate. Who do I have to ….. to get that deal. Anyone else think this is wrong? :(

    :toidy:

Yes, that is quite the nice link. Wonder how much it was or what the deal was.

I guess as long the t&c’s allow it, it is legit to do so. But it is not in the ‘spirit’ of good partnering to do so. Even though it is quite likely useless for direct traffic from our sites, I don’t like it.

Would they ‘next’ be sending out competing emails to the customers we send them?

    Inspiration, you are correct.

Muffin, I guess if you do not know the history of All Star Slots this may look a little bit odd. But in short….

    – We purchased both All Star Slots and the URL Affiliate Edge back in 2010 from a previous owner/operator/affiliate.
    – The link was already in place prior to our purchase and has no link to the affiliate running the casino.
    – Within the purchase deal, the contract was that that link must not be removed as that was the original deal set up before we took over..

As we are under contract we abide by the rules of the purchase. Nothing sinister going on, it’s not a practice that we undertake as you’ll notice we have no other links of this type anywhere else.

If this link is a deal breaker for you, then simply remove the links to All Star Slots or replace with one of our other 7 US facing brands.

In my opinion it’s unlikely that a player will go from your site to All Star then find that link at the bottom (that doesn’t look like a link) to head to the other affiliate site before coming back to All Star Slots. Even if All Star Slots was advertised on the resulting site – which they’re not.

However, if you’re going to give me 24 hours to respond to this thread it would be nice if you could have given me a heads up so I could respond in time as I don’t get notifications from this section in the forum.

Should you have any further questions, I am happy to answer them either here or on my email address, which you have.

Thanks to the affiliate who did give me the nudge on this.
