What landing pages do you want me to make up?

    Hi Lloyd.

okay, now I may have this wrong, but I think this is how it works.

    we have a mispelling of

    compaign

    which should be

    campaign.

this is what is causing the blank page. if you fix the mispelling, then the casino’s home page does load. or it did for me anyway.

so that tells me that if it was fixed so that the landing page is “compaign” friendly, then it stands to reason that the casino home page would then show up.

    does that make sense?

    and if so;

well we all know how its seemingly impossible to get all your links switched around. there are always some that you miss for whatever reasons

and I would think it would be to your benefit Lloyd – if its not a lot of work and I don’t think it would be; to create landing page which can be accessed if someone uses the link with the word “compaign” in it, instead of counting on us to change literally 1000s of pages and have it all work like clock work.

heck I’d still be running those blank pages if not for Ken’s catch and I imagine there will be a ton of other affs out there who didn’t get the message…. know what I mean?

thankfully to Ken, whether or not you create those landing pages won’t effect me on a large basis but standing from your point of view Lloyd, I can see where it might be incredibly beneficial to make this work.

so you don’t have to create anything for me. but I’d sure consider creating it for your program’s benefit, and the benefit of the affs who still are unknowingly unable to send players to your casinos because of this mispelling.

everybody loses the way it is when they are taken to a blank page.

    Hi!

Okay, thank you. I’ll ask our Web Developers to check our banner codes on the landing page that Patti setup for us. Also, we’ll check if the incorrect spelling of campaign is a technical problem.

I’m vacating this week in Vermont, so I’ve asked Marcia to follow up on these and any other postings in my absence.

Hope that you’re all enjoying the summer :)

    Best regards,
    Lloyd

I’m not sure that this is ready to go yet.

None of the links seem to work properly ..
The images source but when clicked only blank pages appear …

And where are the text links ?

Hi BB1Webs and all others experiencing problems with our banner links,

Marcia here trying to fill in for Lloyd while he vacations in Vermont. Rough, huh?

    Regarding our banner codes:

I’ve sat with our Web Developers about the problems you seem to be having with our banners. Here we go:

    1. While the word campaign is, admittedly, spelled incorrectly, it is what it is…and what it is, is a code. In theory, we could have written “george” there and the codes would still work if that’s what was programmed behind it. So in short, DO NOT change the spelling. The entire system behind these codes is built on that (incorrect) spelling. If you change the spelling on your links, the system won’t recognize it at all.

    2. The codes are built such that you must use the entire code – both parts. Please check the top banner at http://bondedcasinos.com/ . Not only does the banner lead to nowhere (you’ve changed our “compaign” to “campaign”), but the image is missing because you inserted the location part of the code:

    [HTML]http://www.brightshare.com/clickscounter.php?campaign=84&groupid=6&bTag=ajpm41&affid=155[/HTML]

without the image part of the code:

    [HTML][/HTML]

The entire code used together does work:

    [HTML][/HTML]

    3. Regarding your question: What landing pages do you want me to make up? Lloyd didn’t speak to me about this one, so I guess he will have to get back to you when he can.

I hope this helps. Please let me know if you continue to have difficulties. If you do, it would help us check if you would give us the page on your site and the particular banner you were trying to use. Thanks.

    Regards,
    Marcia

Hi Cagney12 – (Lloyd asked me to write you)

Marcia here (with the back-up of our Web Developers) trying to fill Lloyd’s shoes/hiking boots while he treks around New England.

I tried your banner links as you sent them on: http://www.onecentgambling.com/brite_test.htm and they worked for me 100% of the time.

Our Web Developer suggests two things:

    1. On your browser, please go to Tools – Internet Options – Security – Privacy – make sure the slide bar is no higher than “medium.”

    2. Now, again on your browser, go to Tools – Internet Options – General – Temporary Internet Files (the section in the middle) – Delete Cookies

    3. And finally, while you’re there, after you’ve deleted the cookies, delete the Temporary Internet Files.

This should do the trick – please let me know. Thanks.

    Regards,
    Marcia

    To TheGooner,

Please read the notes I wrote to Cagney12 and BB1Webs below and see if this helps.

If it doesn’t, please send me the landing pages and banners you’re trying to use.

Re: text links – do you mean the text links to the casino websites, downloads, flash and cache/tracker links? If so, please check Landing Pages at:

    All Slots:

    Wild Jack Casino:

Let me know how it goes…

    Marcia

All these posts have had me wondering why the trouble, so here’s my assessment. Apparently, the links don’t work unless they are accompanied by a web request for the banner.

Using bb1’s codes, here’s the proof:

First, visit the link bb1 provided, and you’ll see a blank page:
    http://www.brightshare.com/clickscounter.php?compaign=108&groupid=5&bTag=ajpm41&affid=155

Now, view the banner with the same tracking codes:
    http://www.brightshare.com/impcounter.php?compaign=108&groupid=5&bTag=ajpm41&affid=155

Now, visit the first link again, and you’ll be directed to the casino:
    http://www.brightshare.com/clickscounter.php?compaign=108&groupid=5&bTag=ajpm41&affid=155

To me, this seems needlessly restrictive, and I can foresee a number of legitimate ways it can cause tracking errors. I assume that it is IP-address based, meaning that the same IP address must request the banner and the redirect, or it doesn’t work.

What if the browser software uses a locally cached copy of the image upon a return visit to the affiliate’s site? (I expect most browsers know not to cache stuff with all those parameters, but you never know.)
More troubling is the idea that users with some ISP’s like AOL may actually generate requests from a variety of IP addresses, all in the same page view. Proxy devices can cause all sorts of odd behavior like this.

I don’t see a legitimate reason for this restriction, and it seems likely to cause tracking trouble.

    OK …

    BANNERS ARE NOT WORKING
This tracking code for Wild Jack Poker does NOT work at all for me.

And it’s been copied directly from the affiliate system.
It displays the banner but … 10 clicks and 10 blank pages …
There is no source code at the destination behind the pages when i do view source either ?

    LANDING PAGES ??
I’m not specifying any landing pages … happy to use whatever default is set up for Wild Jack Poker.

However based on what you’ve given me – I think that we are talking about affiliate links pages there.

    TEXT LINKS
What I have found that seems to work are the links is group 3 of each “landing page” .. the one labelled … If you’d prefer to serve your banners

These seem to work with both banners and text and appear to be jumping correctly and showing my aff link in the final URL …
    eg WILD JACK POKER

Are there clicks showing uo for AFF 1596 now ?

Update … to the update …

Both versions on here appear to be working now.
    Weird … with a capital W ..

It was stone cold dead for about 15 attempts until I did the text link click.
Now the graphic one seems to be working.

If there are any helpful folk around who have not been to the site yet …
    – Can you please click on the graphic .. does it work ?
    – Then click on the text ……………….. did that work ?
    – Then click back on the graphic …….. does it work now?

I’m expecting (NO, YES, YES) …

    The Gooner,

I can take a look… Let me know where on your site to look, though.

I checked out the review portion and the text link works fine there, landing me on the Wild Jack Poker page. (For the Wild Jack review, of course)

    Hi Marcia or Lloyd…..
I do all that on a regular basis…..they do not work 100 percent, I am lucky if they work 1/2 the time. I have had others check the banners also, and….blank pages… I truly hate to take the banners down but this is not profitable…. I am not sure what to try next…

TheGooner, I clicked your banner and link, it doesn’t work for me.
I had the same problems and wound up using direct links instead, but those links are not available on the Brightshare website anymore.

Bumping this up … so that Brightshare (and others) realise that there is still a problem for MOST affiliates.

    Hi there!

It’s very clear to us that some of you and possibly other affiliates as well are having trouble working with our new banner and text link codes and I appreciate your postings on this matter.

In order for us to check this out fully, I need to please ask for further assistance from those of you that are having problems.

Please copy the codes of: (1) the casino redirect links and (2) both banner codes of any banner for each of the casinos that isn’t working for you onto a hidden landing page of the website where you tried the codes and they didn’t work.

Please then email the hidden landing page link to Marcia at info@brightshare.com and please include info on the browsers and tool bars you are using. Our Web Developers will then be able to run a complete check and find out where the problems lie and hopefully fix them or at least find a work around.

Please email Marcia at info@brightshare.com if you have an questions regarding this request.

Many thanks for your support on this matter!

    Best regards,
    Lloyd
