If you not currently active in Facebook you are missing the boat.

The Facebook phenomenon has created an entire generation of individuals who have access to a Network so vast that at one time you would have needed an entire staff to stay in touch with all the people you have met in your lifetime while at the same time staying in touch with new relationships.

On my Birthday I did not receive one e-card yet I received countless wall posts and pm’s wishing me a happy B-Day…7 of which were ex-girlfriends and one of them was from college…COLLEGE! I am in touch with people as far back as high school 20 years of contacts that I had lost touch with until 2 years ago.

The ability to build trust and establish rapport has never been easier. It has been an invaluable tool for me after being out of the industry for 3 years! It’s like I never left!

    Cheers,

    Marty

How are you monetizing your social networking traffic? Building a list of followers isn’t difficult for your niche in my opinion, because its basically getting people like minded interests together. But.. for me, the magic is using that base, and making money of them.

Does anyone track, how much revenue a post on their FB page, or twitter make them?

I’d be interested to see an example of Facebook being used to drive casino traffic, it’s something I only use to keep in touch with friends and family and I’ve never thought of it as a business opportunity.

I know an affiliate that has play for fun slots on Facebook and is doing some incredible numbers on Facebook and is managing move quite a lot of that traffic off FB to their site too….Also anotehr bingo affiliate that did some clever applications a year or so back that also drove seriously big numbers for him. How they did it is obviously the golden nugget they won’t share, but there is definitely money there and a hell of a lot of it

We have just hired a full time social networking manager for Streak Gaming so I hope it pays off in the end. Still thinking of a tool so we can monitor the traffic progress so if anyone has any suggestions please let me know :)

Alex, thats what got me posting about on this thread… I’ve seen some people move serious traffic from social networking sites to their sites, and they seem to be very successful at doing it. It’s like getting #1 on google, without the competition!

Just thought I’d revive this year-old thread, as I’m thinking a lot about integrating social networking into my site, in a way that makes sense.

There’s a few people on Facebook and Twitter who have massive followings, who no doubt are doing well driving traffic to their respective sites.

At the moment, I’m just concentrating on developing good content, and hopefully the traffic, the +1s, Likes and Stumbles will just come as and when…

Are any of you particularly successful using social networking tools to drive visitors to your sites? Is it worth the effort?

Social Media is a HUGE traffic generating channel. I certainly recommend you implementing a plan around social media for your site’s traffic.

Facebook & Twitter are great resources. However, StumbleUpon is growing tremendously as well. And from feedback in the forums, I know that affiliates have been finding much success with it.

For some more details, we conducted a webinar back in October with 2 huge social media experts from Blue Glass- Dave Snyder & Brent Csutoras. Honest to goodness, they share some awesome info, if you’re interested in checking it all out:

Has anyone played with advertising on FB?

Rak did anything ever come of your research? Did you ever start promoting on your account? There’s a fine line of pushing a link from time to time and then just plain spamming your friends and family.

Perhaps a fan page of some sort directing them to your site or displaying offers on your sites would be good.

IMO, FB Advertising can be hugely effective. However, you need to watch your stats like a hawk. You can have an off day a literally lose thousands in advertising dollars.

Anyone willing to share experiences in advertising online gambling related campaigns through FB?

I have to admit, I think I have created a very successful Facebook profile – not page.

Why is it successful – the 230 people I have on this facebook profile are all fans of what my niche is. So much so, that everytime I make a comment or a post, whether it be sharing an article, posting a comment, uploading a photo.. I get between
    5-20 likes,
    5-50 comments
and my posts get shared to a wider network – so much so that people are now adding themselves to my profile – even if it is 1 every 2 days.

I haven’t monetized it – because I don’t think I am at that point of number of followers where the gambling affiliate link will be seen as part of the content.

I have through of doing it this way though where I comment to pages which has an interested article (written by me) which has gambling links in the content to send the user to.

Also I think the new facebook layout, is helping webmaster to better interact and encourage their users to interact with profiles.

I don’t think a page has the same level of “trust” and “bonding” that an alias profile does.

Connecting with a person who is just like you is much more appreciated?

    Hi Jill-O and Rak,

Rak, sounds like you’ve got a good thing going there and I agree with you on the trust part of having them on your profile rather than fan page. I just wonder about appealing to the masses. Since FB limits you to 5k friends; if you do ever reach that pinnacle you’d be reaching something like 10-20k folks in that network at optimal levels. Which is really nice since it’s a specifically targeted market, but it will be limited to that number. And in the end how will they respond to actually being marketed. Please keep us updated on this :)

Jill, I haven’t done any FB advertising but have been reading up on it and doing some research. There are some great advantages to it, but yeah, it could kick your butt fast if you don’t watch over it. I’ll definitely do some dabbling in it soon, but what I’d like to know is if anyone has found a way to push some gambling products. I mean FB has 2 really strict rules, no ‘xxx’ content and no gambling. I’ve heard of people finding ways around it but no one is really sharing how. I’d love to hear any feedback on that or just general FB advertising for affiliates as well.

You can do gambling advertising on FB – you just need a 30K monthly spend, for a minimum of 3-6 months I think.
