To better understand how consumers react to Internet poker, the company is using EEG technology to collect data on players' brainwaves and therefore determine their emotional reaction with certain kinds of services. This would also let them identify the "highs" and "lows" in player concentration, potentially leading to games that provide better, more user-friendly play. The hot story in the United Kingdom is the new initiative by Sports Minister Gerry Sutcliffe to turn what is now a voluntary contribution to a problem gambling charity into a mandatory fee for the industry. Reportedly, this new rule was inspired because the current voluntary nature of the fund wasn't meeting financial objectives. The new rule may go into effect as soon as this coming June.
