April 27, 2007 at 11:27 am #735063vladcizsolMemberYes, quite a few. I originally started as a retail affiliate in 1998. From 2001 – 2006 I concentrated my efforts on Online Gambling as that was the most lucrative niche I had. Once the new legislation was enacted I started back up in retail to offset declining revenues from gaming. I am not as broad as I was in 1998 YET, but I plan on marketing in four retail verticals. The good news is that retail does produce steady revenues. The bad news is there are far more programs to wade through and there appears to be a MUCH higher incidence of “shaving” then we see in gaming.
April 27, 2007 at 12:38 pm #735066AnonymousInactiveI get very confused with the sheer number of programs available in retailing, and it seems like none live up to the standards we have in this industry.
April 27, 2007 at 3:22 pm #735084AnonymousInactiveHi. I offer 2 additional sites. The first one is my own site at http://www.HitAlert.com. I have an affilate program where I pay $20 per sale. This site has been up and running for over 3 years. It basically sells traffic and signups.
My second site is a herbal site which can be found at http://remedyguidance.com . It’s only about 10 days old. However, I’ve already gotten a couple of signups to the affilate programs that are offered on the site. I decided to go with herbals for 2 reasons. First, I like herbals over drugs. Secondly, it seemed that alot of webmasters wer suggesting that industry, including the Professor!April 27, 2007 at 4:46 pm #735090AnonymousInactiveI have also been experimenting with travel and dating affiliate programs. I do not have much experience, but I already see that clicks/depositors ratio is way lower for those programs, than for gambling ones.
April 28, 2007 at 3:52 am #735142AnonymousInactiveI’ve got a niche home and garden retail site but it’s not affiliate based, the inventory is stocked. I also put a bunch of posters from an affiliate program on it which pulls in some extra income but does best at Xmas.
April 28, 2007 at 8:30 pm #735193AnonymousGuestHi all,

100% agree. I came from the adult industry… left it because i had enough of the insolent shaving.
Now, I’m experimenting with forex, fashion, finance and education but so far, the results are disappointing. Particularly in forex and fashion. (conversion is so bad… it’s suspicious of shaving)
Prof is right. Have to weed through the aff. progs to find some descent one. No-wonder, most webmasters only income is Adsense.
Not easy. Sigh…:unhappy:April 30, 2007 at 7:04 am #735270AnonymousInactiveWow, then ill continue focusing on my career hehe just cant find a job… yet
April 30, 2007 at 7:17 am #735271AnonymousInactiveI agree you can get burned in any industry. Rapid Satellite ripped me off and they are one of the most popular providers of DirectTV. At the moment I am suspecting Sel Medica to be withholding payments, they are not even answering emails, they are in the herbal industry.
I’m sure if I looked back far enough I could come up with a lot of other examples.
April 30, 2007 at 1:30 pm #735311AnonymousInactiveWhen you sell your own inventory, then u see how much better it converts than when u sell the same thing for others as an affiliate. The same applies here. If u had an own casino, then u’d see how it really converts.
May 9, 2007 at 10:52 pm #736207paulreferbackMemberI am able to offer a suggestion for people wishing to diversify from the gaming affiliate programs. I am the affiliate manager for Big Win Partners, our programs offers two different non gaming products to promote and both products are 100% legal and are not linked to any online casinos or poker rooms. In addition, we accept players from all over the world, including all 50 US states.
Currently, the program offers two websites to promote:
http://www.rotoplay.com, fantasy sports – $25 bounty
http://www.picksonline.com, sports picks – 25% revenue share and you earn on life time referals. These two sites are a great way to diversify from the gambling arena, yet they are not too far out of the comfort zone for many affiliates who promote gaming sites.
If you have any questions, either PM me or email me at affiliate@bigwinpartners.com
Cheers,

It’ll take longer, but offers a more stable economy if you can do it. Just an idea.

I’ve found that gambling has me spoiled! I have a helluva time finding rev share options… no matter the industry, stats in other area’s seem to suck.. and half the time I can’t find the product I want to advertise! .. In addition, there aren’t always affiliate managers.. and gee you gave me a great opening to whine with
June 1, 2007 at 8:29 pm #738586AnonymousGuestHow very true! It seems many other niches don’t yet recognize the impact a good aff program can have on income.
I have a local ……. aquaintance shall we say ….. who has some kind of exotic blue jeans he sells ….. and I asked about an aff program and he didn’t even understand what I was talking about.
You can never cover the net by your own ad methods ….. even casino-on-net will tell you that …. thought they probably were the best at it at one time.
the simple fact of someone not completely associated with a product ….. even if they are an aff …. talking them up ….. is a selling point no direct sell can accomplish. obviously the aff found reason to promote the particular product and may savvy surfers understand this.
That fact will only grow as time goes on. Selling or promoting crap will only gain you a bad rep and word spreads.
