vladcizsolMemberYep they are horrible. I lost a lot of good spots during this “update” to the current trash too so I am not a happy camper. I hope the greedy son of a bitch who is doing this gets banned. Hes hurting a lot of honest webmasters with his crap.

InactiveMyself and a fellow colleague were discussing this earlier this week. I had stated how easily it appears Y! is being manipulated and how important domain and title appeared to be.
I haven’t targeted Y! for serp ranking yet as its too new and hasn’t proven itself to a great # of webmasters yet as producing substantial quality traffic in substantial quantities – least I haven’t heard about it doing so.
Thus, I don’t really have any listings worth writing home about, but I can assure you once they straighten out their algo and start producing I will take some time to move to the top

I agree with both of your observations – yahoo is presenting a bunch of crap. :shaun:

InactiveTake a look at this POS site http://www.online-gaming-fortune.com – HOW in the world do they rank well? Not to mention I found that they are using my sites name, title, and certain phrases of my content GRRRRRRRRRR

InactiveAs far as quality results go, I like Teoma. (And no, I don’t rank well there…)
By the way, this is my 1000th post at CAP.

GuestGoogle is definately a mystery lately.
When are they due for the next update?December 24, 2004 at 1:26 am #659194Anonymous

I really don’t agree with you on them being minor. The yahoo and msn results are just plain horrible right now. How can anyone, except the offending webmaster, feel these are ok. I am with the professor, I hope the SOB gets banned. There is a lot of honest webmaster that work hard to make quality sites with good information. Instead we see tons of redirects with misleading text.

InactiveYes, the results are terrible at Yahoo and MSN. I don’t see these results sticking for very long.

InactiveAre you all trying to tell me something? While I was ranking well in Google the results in Google were crap. Now that my results in Google have dropped, and my rankings in Yahoo are significantly picking up – Yahoo is now crap!
I am not the offending webmaster in the examples listed above, and I have not done *much* ‘blackhat’ SEO tactics. I’ve just been looking at how Yahoo ranks and acting accordingly.
Isn’t MSN still using Yahoo data? If so then hopefully the new MSN search will be made live shortly. Also, remember, the search engines are machines – NOT humans. They will never be absolutly perfect.

InactiveBlackhat SEO techniques are something that can not be eliminated. It’s especially frusturating to webmasters such as myself who work really hard and know their SEO only to get our ranked by SPAM sites that do not deserve to rank at all to be quite frank.
Even though search engines get smarter and smarter in eliminating these SPAM sites webmasters who use blackhat techniques will always find away to beat the search engines. Since the algo’s for major search engines such as Google, Yahoo & MSN don’t have any human factor with respect to how sites rank in the SERPS there’s always going to be a loophole.
Webmasters who use blackhat techniques shouldn’t expect to say around for too long as many webmaster complain about the poor results when ever there’s an update to an engines index.
Content, Content, Content… If there’s one thing that can be said content is still by far one of the most important factors in ranking well in the engines. There’s nothing like quality content to feed a spider and keep it coming back for more… In the end you’ll end up with a great site with lots of relevant content which in conjunction with a decent amount of quality links (not quantity) you shouldn’t have a problem ranking well long term.
If some of this stuff doesn’t make sence or is pretty vague… I’m sorry it’s late over here!
Anyways all have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year…
P.S. If you want to complain about the current listings in Yahoo seach for “online casino”, “online casinos” which 98% of the sites listed in the top 10 are spam, then scroll down to the bottom of the page and click the “Send us Feedback” link. Fill out that form there.
Any feedback to Yahoo right now is very important as they’ll likely be launching a completely new algo in the New Year.
Best Regards.

Very true and also important in MSN since they are not finished with the updated on the new MSN algo, and taking the feedbacks into consideration as well. Also found at the bottom of page.

InactiveHappy Holiday!
I have found a very nice piece of FREE SEO software to try. I have been using it for over a month and I would like to know if anyone else has tried it. The software is put out buy WebCEO . I have alot wrong with my mysites according to this software. I’ve made their suggested corrections, now lets see how good it is.
You’all have a wonderful holiday!

InactiveI tried WebCEO – even bought the full professional package.
Support is pretty quick, but sometimes a bit off target in my direction.
The software is pretty good for some things but key areas were missing the details I was looking for.
Plus, it could be coincidence, or maybe not, but after trying WebCEO’s recommendations on one of my smaller sites, it dropped right off the first pages of the SERPs.
In the end, because I really didn’t have time to test it thoroughly, I claimed a refund, which they paid back pretty promptly.
They do claim to be launching some new support areas, so things may be changing as we speak – but my results were disappointing in the end. Believe it or not, WebPosition Gold seems to be better, but you have to spend a lot more time trying to figure things out. Better product for experts – but beginners may want to stay away from the clutter of WPG.

InactiveYahoo! is ‘supposed’ to be implementing changes that deal with re-direct’s, according to some of the feedback I’ve read…. when, however is another matter….
