Hello. The first thing he will have to decide is if he is going to allow rakeback. With so much competition not only with poker sites in general, but also the other umpteen Prima sites, he will have to differntiate the site. Why will top level affiliates push the site instead of others and also why would players choose to play there? Solid answers to these questions will be a good start.

    Hi pokermonger

I don’t think that his site will be doing rakeback, but I will bring it to his attention and find out.

Besides the name, as you say, differentiation of product is pretty tough within the Prima Network. Maybe if he was to focus on account management, work closely with his affiliates and offer the best commissions he could afford, maybe that could make a difference? He’s an honest guy and i’ve known him for years, hopefully that would win some support.

I think he’s hoping that players would choose to play their for the same reasons that they play on other Prima network sites. But maybe, he could work on offering some kind of unique promotion? I will ask him and get back to you…………

    Hi Antoine,

I get the feeling from your feedback so far that this might be an area where he can offer something more competitive. Would all affiliates expect 40% flat fee or do you think they would go for a sliding scale based on how well their players performed that month? (say starting at 30% and rising to 40%)

    Hi Dominique,

That is very kind of you to say (lol). I think that time will tell is the honest answer here. And I will ask him about the rakeback………

    Chris,
If this new site allows rakeback, I will NOT promote it. However, if this is a no-rakeback site, I definately will look into it.

Rakeback sounds like it’s a deal breaker for all of you. I will tell him that he would be mad to allow rakeback (lol). :1circling

    Hi Chris

This is a very professional Prima skin that my contemporaries at http://www.mypokerprofits.com have offered your friend Allan.

The site is a mirror in terms of structure of most Prima sites, so the structure and basic content can’t be flawed.

The creative design is also professional, and inspires credibility.

Its a pity that the domain name leveraged the brand equity already built up by http://www.royalvegaspoker.com :terms: , although its a clever guerilla marketing tactic. Those wild Kiwi’s from http://www.mypokerprofits.com down under have no shame .

Ok, on a more serious note….

    Pro’s include:

    – Allan can give the impression to poker players who’ve played at all the ‘big-boy’ poker rooms, that they are new on the block – and entice them in to sign-up as new players.

    – All support is outsourced and driven by Prima

    – This will offer Allen higher than average profit margins

    – These profits should be reinvested into focused marketing campaigns to generate max traffic

    however,

    Con’s include:

    – The brand is not well known and will require aggressive marketing & spend to raise their profile in the market

    – Without an established brand to leverage, player volumes will never reach significant levels

Assuming Allan does not have ready access to millions of dollars to pump into TV advertising, his most cost effective delivery and marketing channel will be through affiliates and PPC.

The rev-share nature of dealing with affiliates will be relatively expensive, but a greater challenge will remain. That is – gaining & keeping effective shelf-space for his banners and links, while he competes with all the existing branded and established poker rooms on the market.

If I was an affiliate with an existing portfolio of 4-8 poker rooms that I’ve listed, I would need to be persuaded somehow to introduce this new and unproven ‘stock’.

What is Allan’s pitch? What can Allan offer his affiliate network when existing poker rooms (who invest heavily in brand TV advertising) can offer:

    1. higher brand-player recognition & traffic volumes
    2. in turn, higher player conversions from free-money to raking accounts
    3. higher player retention levels driven by large teams of promotion and retention experts usually employed by poker rooms

I believe SEO holds the key for Allan. This is a specialized skill and field that can deliver the traffic, which in turn can begin to build brand recognition and generate decent traffic levels and revenue.

    Best regards

    Brad

That is a very professional opinion – thank you for that, Brad.

One point is missing: To sign a significant number of new affiliates one has to not allow rakeback to be offered by any affiliates.

It makes no sense to try to compete against other affiliates who may be offering up to 50% rakeback. Any affiliate to sign up with a new room allowing affiliate driven rakebacks would be a fool.

If the rev share for affiliates is being supressed so heavily by rake back offers on the same roker room they advertise, affiliates will either drop the property, move it to an unconspicuous place just to fill space and definitely not allow it to infringe on income they make with non-rakeback places.

It also precludes any paid campaign for said poker room. The money just isn’t there to inspire the type of affiliate who spends money on campaigns.

    Hi Brad,
I wasn’t expecting such an in depth analysis there (lol). Thanks for taking the time to do that. Alan will be very happy with your feedback. He will be joining the forum very soon.

    Hi Dominique,
Alan confirmed to me that there will be no player rake back scheme and that affiliates can earn up to 40% rake share.

    Cheers

    Chris
