InactiveThanks for the posts Tovey.
From the LA Times:
WTO judges ruled April 7 that a U.S. ban, in the interests of “public morals,” can stand only as long as the prohibitions don’t discriminate against foreign companies.
This seems to mean that as long as the gambling company is foreign owned that the U.S. has no recourse against them. Definitely a step in the right direction it would seem.

….hmmmn so it would seem. But I think that IF that happens, then the US will then legalize it for the US casinos to get involved because why let all that TAXABLE income slip away to foreign countries.
which will likely put all but the most established out of biz or nearly out.
IF vegas is allowed to go online and take US players you will see so many damn ads for those casinos that you won’t be able to go three steps in any direction, online or off; without seeing these ads.
Our “partners” cry about all their operating costs and etc etc, but the truth is; and vegas knows it; is that the profit margin for an online casino vs the profit margin for a land based casino are not even in the same league.
Vegas’ deep pockets will have no problem getting the word out to players that THEY are USA govt regulated to offer fair odds games and when that happens; look for a new line of income because this one is going to dry up considerably (especially if our partners start shaving us harder to make up for the big loss of bottom line).
And I highly doubt vegas will offer affiliation but even if they do … like I said they’ve got deeper pockets than most of us so how are you going to compete?
And those of you that rely strictly on the SEO stuff aren’t going to be safe either. Vegas is a busy little bee when it comes to making money. won’t take long for them to get around to stepping on the toes that live in your neighborhood.
and of course, I hope I’m dead wrong on all the above.
… oh ya, and the OCs that exist now; will greatly be sorry they were so thoughtless about the way they went about treating/retaining players.
all this nickel and dime BS they hand out, whether its the hassle of the fax-back form (which appears to be just a scam to avoid payment to most players – especially when some of the casinos abuse the situation to actually avoid or slow down having to pay someone) or shoddy, rude unhelpful customer service – will NOT be forgotten by players and they will easily migrate from the places where they had but little choice to play before; … to the open arms of the friendly customer service agents that vegas will be sure to provide. vegas understands this is a service based industry.
You won’t see them caught in a situation where later on the forums are full of talk about a casino that didn’t hand out the bonuses on time, or like they should have;…. because if a situation like that comes up, vegas will comp everybody and take it on the chin knowing that it pays off big in the long run.
… Man don’t even get me started on how stupidly some of the biggest online casinos are run.
