InactiveIT would have to be “breaking news” in order to be true – as I have not seen anything like that yet.
I know that there was a suggestion when people were yelling about the law changes that the last WSOP might be the last HUGE one for that very reason – but I’ve seen plenty of WSOP qualification promotions since then.
So I don’t think it is true – yet …

InactiveThanks for the response Paul. I hold your words with the highest reguards, and admire your willingness to help a guy out. It seems that you know your trade inside and out. So to me, your words are like money in the bank. I just pray that I never piss you off. lol
Cheers and please have a happy and safe holiday season.

InactiveThat rumour doesn’t seem to make much sense, since the online rooms never had a deal with Harrah’s/WSOP for online entries, they just offerred them up. In fact, when i was signing in for my first WSOP tournament, i heard them telling one woman that “Pokerstars shows up every night and pays the buy-ins for their players”. That certainly made it clear that Stars, eventhough it was renting a hospitality room at the Rio, had no deal/credit line with Harrah’s for paying for entries.
just my observations. Dean, from Aus, was there too and much more active (talking to the various participants), so he may know more details of how it worked last summer.

InactiveWow! I hope this thread didn’t bring you out of exile. lol
Anyways what can they really do about it? What is next the :bullshit: IRS will be there to ask us where we got $10,000? If Harrahs really has anything that they can do about it, they should creat a event exclusive for online satallite players. Hell, it seems that championship bracelets are not so rare these days, so whats just another one?!? The online players prize pool will still be huge, and the pro’s can have thier “private game where a bunch of buddies beat the hell out of 10 rich guys try’n to live out a childhood dream of seeing his picture hung in a Las Vegas casino.” I’m sure all the pro’s will love having the “Short Stack” of prize pools. If 5000 people had an average just $12,000 to play the tourney and blow $2000, Vegas would lose out on $60,000,000 in revenue for that month. Not to mention the thousands free advertisements they get from online sites.
But on the bright side, just imagine June in Las Vegas without about 5000 people who don’t know where the hell they are going. Less traffic, no waiting in two and a half hour lines at the buffet, rich and beautiful women at the pools instead of 10,000 children, veterans at the crap tables, blackjack players who don’t hit 14 with a dealer 6 showing, no more blowing $350 in the same .05 slot because the free drink hasn’t arrived yet, and don’t even think about leaving without a message.
That’s it! I’m going to make reservations now!December 24, 2006 at 12:25 am #719836Anonymous
Inactivemmm … those threads are interesting …
From the pokermagazin site you linked to above …
On one hand we have Harrah’s making a big statement …
Quote:Harrah’s Entertainment – the owners of the WSOP – has officially announced that they will not allow online poker rooms to buy tournament seats. Then a statement about the scale …
Quote:This year 75% of the 8.773 players in the Main Event secured their seat through online qualification. In 2007 not a single online qualifier will be allowed in, and no exception will be made. But look at this statement about the enforcement procedure …
Quote:The only way to get a seat at the tables in July will be to either pay the $10,000 entry fee or win one of the official WSOP satellites played live in the days leading up to the Main Event itself.Err .. all the seats were paid for – Harrah’s didn’t donate them.
It seems to me that they’ll simply organise these in a different way – you won’t win a seat at the WSOP – instead you’ll win a trip to Vegas – a room in the hotel and $10,000 in spending money ….

InactiveHey if they do away with it maybe another pro might have a better chance to win.
Anyone have the numbers as in the number of players in the tourney prior to the 2003 run of online winners? moneymaker, raymer, hachem and gold? The number of players has dramatically increased due to online exposure; I guess it would help get a point across if they were to cut it off, but I wouldnt expect any of the casinos/poker rooms to assist in that area.

InactiveFrom what i know this is true , online rooms will not be able to buy seats and give them away,
I cannot remember which room , but the way they are doing it this year is giving the player the $10,000 and he buys his own seat.
