InactiveI HAVE A SIMPLE PLAN FOR THESE TYPES OF SCAMS:
=====================================Play into them!
Reply to their email with interest, asking what email address to send your bank account information to…
When they tell you… SEND YOUR BANK ACCOUNT NUMBER! Only, make it the account number that you can get from your local IRS office for direct payment of your taxes.
When those little bastards try to hack that account — or god help them, get into that account — then and only then will the US government get involved.
Those scammers will be having US Marine Corp MRE’s for breakfast…

InactiveInt, although I like your idea, that’s not the way they work.
I get at least one email a day about these scams, since I have written some warnings on it.They don’t hack you bank account, but basically they all claim you’ve won a huge prize, but in order to receive it, you have to pay the ‘legal-costs’, ‘process-fees’, ‘translations fees’, or whatever they can come up with.
Problem is…. it works! I received one complaint from a guy that paid $9500.- (!!!) hoping to get 7.5 million in return… guess what: he never heard from the guys again.
Most of these scams operate from Nigeria. I have checked the companies mentioned in the emails and none of them are registered at the Dutch chamber of commerce.There’s really not much you can do about these @ssholes.
although some really try:
If you have a couple of minutes, read this (very entertaining) story:

InactiveJeff…
That’s a damn shame… I thought that — if they had your “account number” and your “permission” to withdraw a set amount of cash — then they cleaned out the account.
If they tried to withdraw $9,500 from a US government account, I still think the Marines would go get their arse! Nigeria or not! :p

OH! And Steve, I appreciate your confidence… but I could never allow myself to slip into the sleazy world of politics! I would rather take on the job of Affiliate Manager at Casino Bar!
