No idea why people scrape sites but I did notice that there’s an image on there that was taken off one of my sites.

Look… I know I’m awesome and you all missed me

    1. Why would someone do this (good or bad)?

    2. What should I do about it?

    Awesome = true!
    Miss you = true!

    1. Would some do this?
No good can come from this. They are using your work. You worked hard. Someone is doing this to create quick sites. They don’t have a creative bone in their body.

    2. Contact them and tell them to pull it done, or you will take legal action against the person, and let them know you have their details (show the whois).

If they pull it down, yah, sometimes people can make stupid decisions. Could be a newbie?

If they dont want to listen, approach the host, they should pull it down.

If they dont want to listen, approach the host, they should pull it down.

This is by far the most effective method, especially if the site is on a shared hosting plan. You might meet a little resistance at first, but a hosting company will cave in and pull the hosting for the site with a little pressure.

This method works 95% of the time and I have got many a site brought down using this method when my content has been ripped off.

Just be sure to reference your content and if possible link to your pages which have already been crawled by the Wayback Machine.

A DMCA to google is slower and also if the webmaster disputes the DMCA you will have to follow through as google will then want proof that you are carrying the DMCA out to the end. When I just started my football site an adsense super affiliate decided to scrape the content of all my articles.

A DMCA to google got his adsense account suspended. He apologised but disputed it none the same. But, he didn’t scrape any of my content moving forward. However, google informed me, his adsense account would be reactivated after a week if I did not follow up on the DMCA.

I therefore decided quite rightly to not pursue it as it would have cost money to complete the DMCA to the end.

However, it was natural justice to see this big adsense affiliate sweat for a while, whilst his money stream had been cut off by Google, even if was temporary. :D

What webzcas said… definitely knows what he is on about!

BTW… got a nice list of blacklisted MGS casinos in your footer. I remember the days when they were like the #1’s

It was just a new webmaster and she was very nice. I invited her to join us here on CAP and learn how to be a great casino affiliate from other experts. I am glad that I did not go all out and submit a formal complaint. It is an honor to be so recognized to show up us as a leader in the industry from Russian when American online casinos are more my specialty.

I really hope she joins because I can’t imagine trying to reach an audience that wants casino bonuses with out the help of other webmasters like you. I should make a CAP commercial…

    Anyway, its all resolved now.

Been great this last week I’m back to work full time! Wishing I could have made this conference, but I am almost positive I get to meet you all in person at the next one. Would you happen to know what is the next big aff conference, or a link to a “permanent” schedule? All the best to your and your family.
