InactiveMost people don’t realize that dolphin is a fish, you’re think of the mammal.
It’s actually pretty funny to see peoples reactions when they see it on a menu.
This is the Dolphin we’re talking about

And yes, the sharks you saw were in South Florida, they hang out between Florida and the Bahamas every May.

InactiveThere will definitely be no Flipper on the menu!
Mahi Mahi is a great tasting fish and makes it into the supermarkets – you should give it a try sometime.

Inactiveahh you lucky guy! I need a break right now. Just trying to stay positive is a chore.
About fishing! Its about to be fish time here in my neck of the woods. I know there is no comparison between deep sea fishing and fresh water fishing but its all I got

InactiveYou’re not the only one, bb1webs.
When I first came to America I ranted and raved at the people talking about fishing for and eating dolphin. Saw it on the menu in restaurants, even.
I guess there’s always something new to learn

vladcizsolMemberOk I am back….. Delta lost my Laptop and CPAP machine, but other then that it was a great visit.
Even though I have been there before I must say this resort is without a doubt the most fabulous place in the Caribbean by far! I was sad we were moving CAP Spring Break from Miami Beach, but if its to a place this awesome I guess change can be a good thing! :rockband:

InactiveI can’t understand these fantasies with dolphins.
A human being in the open sea facing one of these “flipper-creatures” is dead man…

InactiveSorry to say this Villa10 – but you’re full of crap.
Where I come from the tides move in and out about 1/2 mile – low flat shoreline. We used to get out there up to our waists and play with the flipper-type dolphins. Porpoises, too – although they’re members of the whale family and not as large. Did it for years with my whole crowd.
I lived in Greece for a number of years and people there have ongoing relationships with dolphins which are very large in their history/mythology/ethnic identification.
If anyone’s interested in some little-known stuff… the Dolphin sonar is so efficient that they can tell if a woman is carrying a foetus (even if she doesn’t know yet that she’s pregnant) and will treat her altogether differently from any other human. Very nurturing.
Forgiving too. Look at the way we’ve treated them historically and now and still they come back for more, helping whenever they can.
They deserve better than we give them – especially a bad name!

ntausDear,
At least to reply my posts try to find “your moments” (if any).Dolphins are wild creatures and it is not a good idea to deal with them in real scenario.
Aquariums or dolphins interacting with human beings all the time is another fact.If you like to believe all those fantasies about sonars, the sirius star, etc etc, it’s simply your choice…………

vladcizsolMemberOk guys lets let the dolphins rest. The mammals are marvelous animals and we will actually have a chance to swim and interact with them at Atlantis. I have swam with dolphins in the keys and its a great experience for adults and kids.
I dove for most of my adult life in Florida and the Caribbean and have seen dolphins in the wild go by and they paid no attention to me whatsoever. Normally they present no danger to humans, and unless you were harassing them or threatening their babies I cant imagine you having a problem with one.
The US Navy does work with Doplhins (the mammals) and they are extremely intelligent creatures. And yes their Sonar is superior at short ranges to what our military deploys.
Regarding the fish referred to as dolphins they are marvelous too. Especially on the end of a fishing line or in a dinner plate.
There are a third type of Dolphins who play professional football in Miami and over the past several years they have been harmless too.
Nuff said about Dolphins

Inactiventaus8 wrote:Sorry to say this Villa10 – but you’re full of crap.I agree. These are amazing and incredibly communicative creatures.
Since they are animals, reactions to unknown intruders into their territory may be anything from cautious to agressive depending on how they interpret your behavior, I’ll grant you that. Good on them for it, or they would be extinct today.
When approached in a consistently considerate, non threatening manner they are very receptive to humans and show a high degree of intelligence.
PS sorry professor, simultaneous posting.

vladcizsolMemberOy Vey!
Hey villa lets talk about how vicious Puppies and stuffed animals are next. You are hitting a raw nerve with this subject. People love Dolphins you arent going to get anywhere with this.
PEOPLE are more dangerous to PEOPLE than anything else walking, swimming, flying or crawling on the planet.
Can we all go back to our regularly scheduled programming? We have some great news today with the first RETURN of a casino group to the US. THATS worth talking about (and even dancing in the streets).
