I have a wide range… I have many that stay on for over 10 minutes on up to keeping the pages up for days. However, from what I can tell, if the user does not click beyond the entry page, it gets tracked as 0. They might be there for 5 minutes, but since they never move pages I think it doesn’t know how long.

Not sure if this helps you or not. I think everyone will be different.

If I were to average it, it would be very skewed due to the people leaving up my pages for hours and days.

I assume you are talking about Statcounter. kwblue is correct:

If you only install the StatCounter code on one page of your website and your visitors never reload that one page. Then your visit length will always be less than 5 seconds! It is highly recommended to install the same code on all pages of your website you want to track.

I use Mambo so I track all pages that upload in the template. EZ for me. Guess if you had 100’s of seperate pages, this could be a chore. ;)

Yes – I’m talking Statcounter. The code is in my template, so if I create a new page I already have the counter code in there. I love Statcounter, but hate that part :(

I like the different types of visitors I have – those who want to make a fast stop to find what they want – get them in, make sure they see exactly what they came for, get them to click and leave. Those spend from a few seconds to 3 minutes or so.

Then there are those who don’t know exactly what they want and spend some time looking at options or getting some info – many of these are repeat visitors and spend from a couple minutes to 15 minutes.

The others are loyal repeat visitors who spend time exploring and being entertained. They spend a bunch of time, sometimes they spend hours.

Each type of visitor has their own value. Many sites target one or the other – the most popular being the get in, click, get out type. Another business model is to build communities with message boards. All approaches have their merits.

So there isn’t any one visitor time frame that is better than the other, it all depends on what your goals are. My site is old and it’s unusually broad in coverage. It just kind of has a life of its own. tongue2.gif

The counts above can give you a better idea of what type of visitor you are attracting and let you cater to them better.

    Addfreestats.com for me …

    0 Minutes 30 1214 20.41%
    1 Minutes 00 856 14.39%
    1 Minutes 30 696 11.70%
    2 Minutes 00 663 11.15%
    2 Minutes 30 511 8.59%
    3 Minutes 00 445 7.48%
    3 Minutes 30 371 6.24%
    4 Minutes 00 329 5.53%
    4 Minutes 30 293 4.93%
    5 Minutes 00 296 4.98%
    5 Minutes 30 274 4.61%

Average time 2 minutes 14 secs

AS I want visitors to read a previews and then click away to a bookmaker I need 1-2 minutes at least before I believe that they’re productive.

Sports are different from casinos – there is more info to absorb.

I bet there is a difference between casino, bingo and poker too.

My figures do not take these differences into account.

    Hi worldpeace,

Sorry to say I think it takes alot more than 20 uniques. At least that is my experience with bingo.
