InactiveI wrote an article about that in the new Cap magazine that’s soon to come out. Be sure to subscribe, it’s free.
Basically they are here to help you, so feel free to contact them with any questions you have.
If you can make it to any of the conferences you will meet them in person and that makes communication a lot better.

debbiehoMemberI am an affiliate manager for Scratch2cash.com and i maintain a close relationship with my affiliates. :hattip:
I make sure they know that they can get any help they need but i also contact them regularly to see how things are going i.e. the campaigns we are working on together or banner updates.
I often congratulate my affilates for their hard work with extra incentives or promotions. I recently gave away 2 tickets to the Euro 2008 soccer finals with Flights and hotel. He was very happy as you can imagine.
i keep in contact with them which ever they find easiest. MSN, Email, Phone, Facebook, Aim…and more

I also try to meet with them as much as possible at shows or personal meetings.

biggygMemberThe good affiliate managers are also called FRIENDS ,the kind that take time to get to know the people behind the screen. One of my managers I have worked with for 2 years now and in that time have had 3 surgeries , he has sent me flowers all three times ,sends me a birthday gift every year and about 2 months ago I got to finally meet him in person .We went out to dinner ,the bill was quite a bit of money and I insisted to pay for it ,he almost cried because I wouldn’t let him pay
The favorite ones are also not always the ones you make the most money with ,they are just really great people to interact with.My mom always said treat everyone like you wish to be treated and I deal that way in business too.

InactiveI am also an affiliate manager, the role is highly diverse with many new challenges everyday.
Our main function is to be there for you when you need us, wether its a banner that you need, some info, a question or just a general chat thats whats its all about.
I like to chat to my affiliates and find out what they are about, where they live etc, not all work work work. This, I think helps cement relationships and develop a sense of trust. I have even shared pictures of my garden makeover while on MSN with affiliates!!! Probably bored them to tears!!
A bit part of the job is to make sure the program is running smoothly, keeping the site and the affiliates up to date with promotions and latest goings on. And most of all you first point of contact for the particular company, in my case redreturns.com.
We’re here to help so get in touch. :hattip:

InactiveMy question:
Do you work at home or in the office?
Where is your office? Antigua? Malta or Gibraltar?

wallstreeterwwMemberBeing an AM is all about being there to help your affiliates any way you can. Just like any good manager you have to reward and criticize to ensure that all things run smoothly and everyone makes money. In this industry though having little to no face to face contact makes criticism a very hard thing to do effectively because they don’t know you well. So it pays to create relationships so that when you have to be serious they will respect you.
As for day to day stuff I get in check my emails and answer them first so that all problems are fixed immediately. I then create monthly mailers to inform my affiliates of any deals or promos. Beyond that I check to see affiliates that haven’t earned in awhile and get all investigative and try to help them earn more.. Cause if they earn so do I.

yleewolfMemberGood question! I’ve been an affiliate manager now for about 4 years in various forms. For most firms an affiliate managers job is to drive/grow the business via affiliates, pretty obvious you say.
Yep but this involves all sorts and depending upon the firm that manager is working for it will involve more or less of certain things.
The key is to drive business from affiliates – both new and exsisting.
And the key to that is good relationships with affiliates, plus campaign management, promotions, accounting (to an extent), product management and marketing – all making for a really varied role. The great thing about an affiliate managers role is you get involved in all aspects of the business, from relationships through to commercial modelling for P+L.
