They were probably great guys, but come on “Stinky Fish Poker”? What in the world were they thinking choosing a name like that?

agree with the Prof here …. that name is pretty out there.
I imagine its one of those that somebody either loves or hates lol.
Personally I think its funny but I’d probably have chosen a name with a bit more class.
Not surprised they ended up going fishing. I hope their catch smells better than their name announces.

I think it’s a bit humorous and certainly none of you forgot it.
It’s an instant brand – whatever you think of it, you know about it.
Kind of like the golden Palace stunts – the more people complain about them and hate them, the more it furthers the brand.
It makes people talk about it – so that raises awareness of it’s existance. I bet a lot of curious people go there and look.

as usual. ….. a very perspective insight by our …….dare I say most fav mod?
before you get all teary eyed my Dear ….. I could likely only name yourself as a mod here at CAP (I don’t pay attention very well in case some haven’t noticed) – (apologies to other mods).
that said. ………..I still love ya and you must have done something right to stick out because I couldn’t name another mod right now to save my life lol.
Hehe, I am the only one.
I’ve been here forever, this was the very first place I found.
Even when I was involved elsewhere I came here daily.
It’s become a habit.
Hey Guys just figured I would drop in and let you know what happened. I made a release at PAW but it must not have made it over here.
I was the Affiliate Program Director for the start up network StinkyFishPoker. Our skins included ChanPoker and 2 other rooms with very deep marketing budgets. We were set to make…a stink :wink-wink
First about the name…you won’t forget it will you? It was a unique brand to create an entertainment filled poker network. Our strong hold was aggressive software that made perfect 3d models of every player from only a picture, it was truly amazing. So the name was chosen to fulfill our wishes of a laid back fun poker room.
Now the demise…
We had an incredible upper level management team that was truly on pace for incredible things. Unfortunately we had two main investment groups and one of them wanted a bigger piece of the pie while only contributing a small chunk of the capital. The larger investor tried to reason with them but ultimately was burned out due to their lack of give, and left the project. We thought about searching for new investors since our software was complete, and had a strong brand, but didn’t want to bring someone into the mix knowing the issues that could take place with the initial investor.
As anyone who came to our parties at the WSOP, or at the EPIC party at the CAC, you know we knew how to have a great time and take care of our affiliates. I was very disappointed because there was a lot of hard work put into this project, but this is business.
ChanPoker has continued on and is ready to complete a deal with a new network and I see nothing but great things ahead of them. I know you all will enjoy working with them.
As for know, I hope you had a great time at our parties and enjoy all the great SWAG we gave out.

That is really too bad you guys went down especially for the reasons stated above, as for the name whether some people like it or not it does not make a difference the point is if you heard the name once you will never forget it, this is what i call good branding. And yes the party at CAC in vegas was awesome. Good luck with whatever you are doing next
