InactiveHi Dan,
This is a great question. I’d love to hear affiliate feedback on the best converting creative – what they’ve found to work, what they’ve found not to work, etc.
Very valuable info that we would be very happy to incorporate into our future creative briefs! :wink-wink
Thanks,

InactiveBanners that match the content work best for me.
If I write about a specific game, a banner about exactly that works best.
If I write about a certain promotion, a matching banner will convert.
Banners that stand alone don’t yield much anymore, it’s the writing and text links that convert best. But a tasteful banner matching the content makes for an attractive encouragement to click.

Thanks Dom! :hattip: You are very right – when there are so many banners on a page, it’s the ones accompanied by text and more info that are going to prompt interest to click through.
Any other feedback would also be most welcomed!

frankBPMemberAs with text and content, the banners need to fit visually into the context of the site design so colour schemes can be important – but for this you need very accomodating affiliate managers!
A visually sympathetic, on-topic banner is the ideal for any page. But they’re few and far between. No-one uses flashing or scrolling text any more, but a high percentage of banners still do.
Wish list: more static (or subtly changing) banners with understated colour schemes and game-specific imagery.
Bodog had it right when they introduced some stunning Blackjack and Slots creative towards the end of last year, but then they went and changed it for these black and white ‘personality’ banners that I just don’t understand.

supervinceMemberIn content links usually work best. Some of my banners do get a 10% to 25% CTR. I don’t clutter the site with a ton of banners. Just a few in rotation. I get better CTRs this way because it gives users less choice on where to go.
To track click through rates on banners, I use http://openads.org Throw a bunch of banners into rotation then after every couple hundred visitors, check the click through rates and drop the ones that are the lowest. Add more for testing and try out different locations.
